Bike ride on Sydney Harbour Bridge
Everyone looks at it, some people climb it – today you’ll be cycling on it!
There are many different names for it. The large bridge that connects the northern part of Sydney with the southern part is often referred to by the locals as “The coat hanger”.
When it was completed in 1932, it was also nicknamed “Sydney’s lungs”. Not only did it eventually bring the two districts together, making it easy for people to travel back and forth, but it also provided a lot of jobs when the crisis ravaged the city in the 1930s.
The bridge is very much a Sydney icon, on a par with the Opera House – and remains the world’s largest steel arch bridge (based on how much steel was used) to this day.
The tour starts in The Rocks neighbourhood, and you’ll cycle from here with an expert guide down towards the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Cycling across one of Sydney’s most famous attractions is an unforgettable experience. Enjoy the view as you cycle across the bridge towards the northern section of the city, where you’ll experience the Kirribilli district and pedal past Luna Park and the tranquil Lavender Bay, as well as many other of Sydney’s attractions.
The tour includes lunch and ends where you started in The Rocks neighbourhood.
Meeting place: Bonza Bike, 30 Harrington St, Sydney (you have to make your own way to/from the starting point)
