In April 2019, Maria from Africasafari.co.uk was on our 3-in-one tour to Victoria Falls, Botswana and Cape Town. Read about her experiences below.
This time, our trip took us to Chobe National Park in Botswana, Victoria Falls on the Zambian side, and finally Cape Town in South Africa.
Over time, I’ve been on safaris in many different places in Africa, but this combination of safari, massive nature experiences and big city holidays was new to me. And so, it was with the joy of anticipation that I and my colleague boarded a plane for unknown lands.
We started in Botswana, where we would have the safari part of the tour. From the airport, we drove just about 10 minutes before reaching our hotel. And if you’ve been to Africa before, you know that a mere 10-minute drive is a true luxury
Chobe Marina Lodge has a wonderful location right down by the Zambezi River – so we were met by an amazing view when we stepped into the reception.
The next few days, we went on safaris on both land and water – and that’s what makes Chobe a unique experience. It’s utterly fantastic that you can watch the animals slowly wake up in the morning, then watch them from the water in the afternoon as they try to cool off after a hot day.
Onward to Zambia and Victoria Falls. It took about 1 hour from hotel to hotel. And Victoria Falls really is an experience. I don’t know what I’d been expecting, but it surpassed all of my expectations. It’s nothing less than a gripping experience that you owe yourself to experience at least once in your life. I felt very lucky as I stood there at the edge of one of the wonders of the world.
The tour ended in Cape Town, where I had been before, so I know what was ahead of me – Cape Town never disappoints, not this time either. It was the perfect way to conclude our holiday with shopping and wine tasting. Cape Town is the perfect mix of world-class nature experiences, historical highlights and relaxing experiences.
