In autumn 2018, our colleague Anne was in Bali. Read about what she experienced on the tour below.

temple in Bali

After a 20-hour journey, I was met by the tropical heat and the amazing aromas that would accompany me on my tour.

I have an exciting time ahead of me and I’m looking forward to everything I’ll see and do on the tour.

Largely Hindu, the Balinese are very hospitable. You are greeted with a smile wherever you go.

paddy fields

I have a packed itinerary in Bali. A wonderful bike ride from the Mount Batur volcano along the rice fields makes a big impression on me. The route is mostly downhill, but you can also test your off-road skills. I will never forget the aroma of the rice fields. Along the way, I also had the opportunity to try the famous Luwak coffee. A must for coffee lovers!

And rafting on the Ayung River is a trip not be missed either. It was an exciting mix of hair-raising and gentle sightseeing. The ride through the waterfalls was particularly refreshing.

Tanah Lot

Naturally, my tour would not have been complete without the Hindu temples. Along the way, you get to see offerings in the form of small baskets of rice and flowers, which the family prepares in the morning. Both Pura Besakih Temple, also known as the “Mother Temple”, and Tanah Lot Sea Temple are just wonderfully beautiful.

As an animal lover, I also got value for money on my tour. Besides the monkeys in Ubud, I could see monkeys all the time from the car. I had no idea that monkeys love to swim or catch fish in the sea in the morning. Dolphin watching in Lovina is a wonderful experience. When the dolphins swim into the bay in the morning to catch their breakfast, it’s a great opportunity for you to see the animals right up close from the boat. I could even hear the special sounds they make when they breathe. I’ll never forget it.

food

Culinary experiences were also on offer every day: Nasi Goreng, Bami Goren or Babi Guling, which is Balinese suckling pig. I always found something exciting on the menu at the restaurants – including “Western cuisine”.

I round off my tour in Sanur and Seminyak. The two cities are very tourist friendly and receive a lot of visitors.

You can swim in the Indian Ocean in Seminyak, and I could really see why this magical place has such a magnetic attraction for surfers from all over the world.

Bali is an exciting mix of hospitality, culture, history, sports and recreation by the pool or the sea. Definitely worth a visit!
