Rice fields

With its iconic sandy beaches, green rice fields, exciting temples and, not least, wonderful hospitality, it is no great surprise that Bali was named the world’s best tourist destination by the travel site TripAdvisor this year.

It is the first time the small Indonesian island of Bali has taken first place on the prestigious “Travelers’ Choice” list, which names the best tourist destination in the world every year. The winners are found on the basis of an algorithm that lists the travellers’ own reviews of sights, hotels and restaurants.

Bali takes last year’s first place from London, which has dropped down to No. 2. Cambodia’s Siem Reap is also on 2017’s top 10 list – the town where you can experience the wonderful Angkor Wat.

Why Bali?

Bali is a fantastic, hospitable and affordable travel destination, where a whole host of experiences await you.

As a travel destination, the south-east Asian island is especially famous for its fabulous beaches, breathtaking scenery and gorgeous temples – all the ingredients needed to become the world’s best tourist destination in 2017

Must-sees in Bali!

Bali is the perfect destination for you if you are looking for lots to see and do, coupled with relaxation on beautiful beaches. It is for people travelling alone, people travelling with children, people seeking excitement or people just looking for a little relaxation.

Bali has something for everyone, offering the perfect blend of adventure, experiences and relaxation.

Bali’s nature & beaches

Seminyak Nusa Dua

The island’s landscape abounds with light green rice fields, huge volcanic mountains and amazing rainforests, which are home to rich and varied wildlife.

And if that wasn’t enough, it has stunning beaches surrounded by a coral reef, providing the perfect setting for a relaxing island holiday.

Every year, the hip coastal town of Seminyak attracts travellers wishing to experience the perfect white sandy beaches, swaying palms and excellent opportunities to enjoy water sports such as surfing.

Bali’s mystical artisan town, Ubud

Ubud is a must-see in Bali – a scenically located town in the volcanic highlands.

This is where you will discover the cultural heart of Bali, where you will find arts and crafts, interesting shops and plenty of opportunity to explore the surrounding villages, where you will be at the receiving end of the Balinese hospitality.

Bali’s temples

Tanah Lot

Bali is often referred to as the “Island of the Gods” because of the thousands of temples on the island.

The vast majority of Bali’s population is Hindu, and the temples are an important part of the Balinese people’s everyday life.

Be sure not to miss Bali’s most iconic temples: Tanah Lot, which enjoys a very special location in the sea off the coast; Tirta Empul, where you can bathe in the holy water, and Besakih, scenically nestled in the island’s volcanic landscape.
