Juma Amazon Lodge

Amazonas

Nestled within the lush Amazon rainforest, around four hours from Manaus, you’ll find the Juma Amazon Lodge.

Built on stilts up to 49 feet high to prevent flooding during the rainy season, when water levels rise dramatically, these unique bungalows offer a stunning experience.

Without compromising on comfort, the 21 bungalows harmonise perfectly with their surroundings. Each offers an en-suite bathroom with solar-heated water, a veranda with hammocks, and ceiling fans.

You can enjoy the spectacular river views from the veranda in the lobby. Feel free to take a dip in the river or relax in the small ‘river pool’, complete with nearby sun loungers and a cosy bar.

In a communal bungalow featuring hammocks, you can unwind after your jungle adventures and enjoy a drink from the lobby bar. There’s also a selection of books and board games available for your use.

The restaurant serves an inviting breakfast and lunch buffet, alongside a delectable evening menu featuring both local and international dishes. Meals can be enjoyed alongside the breathtaking view over the Juma River.

Wi-Fi access is available in the reception area.

Please note that it’s not possible to pay with credit cards here, so bring enough cash in BRL for your stay (including drinks and tipping).

Be aware that each lodge in the Amazon has its own jungle programme. Hence, if you switch lodges, the programme will change slightly as well. A detailed itinerary will be sent to you upon booking. Below is a brief overview of the programme at this lodge:

Day 1: Departure from Manaus to Juma Amazon Lodge (boat, car, boat). En route, experience the ‘meeting of the waters’, where the Rio Negro and Rio Solimões rivers converge to form the Amazon River. Upon arrival at the lodge, enjoy lunch followed by a canoe trip on the river. After dinner, embark on an evening safari to search for nocturnal animals such as caimans.

Day 2: On a sunrise tour, witness the awakening jungle and rich birdlife. After breakfast, take a guided jungle walk to learn about the unique flora and fauna. After lunch, embark on a boat and fishing trip to try your hand at catching a piranha, as you enjoy the sunset on the horizon. After dinner, attend an informal presentation about life in the Amazon, including its history, traditions, and religions.

Day 3: Following breakfast, embark on a walk to a beautiful area in the jungle, where a lunch cooked over an open fire is served. Afterwards, visit a local family to learn more about their fascinating culture and way of life.

Day 4: After breakfast, transportation back to Manaus (boat, car, boat) includes a stop at a floating farm where the giant Pirarucu fish, also known as the Arapaima, are bred — these can grow up to 10 feet long and weigh up to 440 pounds. From Manaus harbour, you’ll be driven to the airport.

All activities in the Amazon depend on the weather and are tailored to each individual stay.
