Art and gastronomy in Salvador (full-day excursion)
You will be picked up from your hotel in the morning and head to Porto da Barra beach, where the two fortresses Santa Maria and São Diogo are located. In ancient times, these fortresses were used to defend the city and the bay. Nowadays, the fortresses house interactive exhibitions by the Franco-Brazilian photographer and ethnographer Pierre Verger, as well as an exhibition on old Salvador.
After visiting the fortresses, the tour takes you to the bohemian district of Rio Vermelho, where you visit the Casa Do Rio Vermelho Memorial (Memorial House of the Red River) where the writer Jorge Amado lived and drew inspiration for his stories.
At the Rio Vermelho market, also called Ceasinha, you will have the opportunity to taste the delicious regional fruit, eat a typical Brazilian lunch and buy local Bahian crafts.
