Xianggong Mountain, the Li River and tea picking
There’s no better view of the beautiful scenery of Yangshuo and the Li River than the one you get from the top of Xianggong Mountain.
You will be picked up from your hotel and driven about an hour outside the city to the 300-metre-high Xianggong mountain.
Xianggong was something of a hidden gem, until a local photographer shot some amazing pictures from the top of the mountain, which also won bronze in an international photo competition. This put the mountain on the world map and now attracts tourists, artists and other photographers.
The 15-minute or so climb to the summit takes you up the mountain’s 400 stone steps. From the viewing platform, you are rewarded with a magical view of the green limestone mountains located along the meandering Li River with its busy cruise ships and bamboo rafts.
Having enjoyed this beautiful sight, you will be driven to a tea plantation around a 20-minute drive away. Here, you get to go into the plantation with a bamboo basket on your back and pick tea leaves. This is followed by a brief talk explaining the different processes and methods. The visit rounds off with a steaming cup of tea.
You are then driven back to the hotel.
