Cat’s wanderlust was first sparked after a backpacking tour around Europe followed by a road trip across the USA with her sister. From then, she was hooked and has since ticked many destinations off her list e.g. the Pacific Islands, South East Asia and Australia. Her favourite experiences include seeing dolphins in Bali, getting traditionally tattooed in Fiji and of course, sampling the local cuisine.

She is now passionate about helping other people fulfil their travel dreams, as she knows how much travel has only improved her life for the better!

Emily Roper

Emily Roper

Travel Specialist

Emily has worked in travel for her entire career. Her passion for travel was ignited during her time as a flight attendant on long haul flights for British Airways. During this time, she got to explore many different destinations and cultures all over the world.

Since then, she continued working in the travel industry for several years and, before starting at TourCompass, she took a career break to travel around Latin America. Now, enriched with numerous experiences, she has trekked through the breathtaking landscapes of Patagonia, visited the Atacama Desert in Chile, experienced the vast salt flats of Bolivia, and explored the ancient ruins of Machu Picchu in Peru. Her favourite country in Latin America is Colombia, particularly the colourful town of Salento and the beautiful northern Caribbean coast.

Emily loves looking for wildlife on her travels, and she cherishes the encounters she had with orangutans in Indonesia and polar bears in Canada as some of her most precious memories.

Millie Davies

Millie Davies

Travel Specialist

Growing up with a Dad who was an artist and a Mother who loved to travel, Millie was never destined to live life in one place. With a background in design, Millie’s passion for travel really sparked after her first backpacking trip to New Zealand, Tahiti, Easter Island and onto South America…so she decided to turn this love for travel into a career!

Since then, this passion for travel has taken her all over the world from a backpacking trip to the East coast of Australia with her sister, to adventures across Europe with her young family including some time spent living in Sicily and also the tiny blue zone island of Ikaria in Greece. Millie has also explored most countries in Latin America and spent 3 years living in Argentina’s vibrant capital – Buenos Aires.

With each destination comes new experiences, but some top memories have to include skydiving and bungee jumping in New Zealand, hiking the famous Inca Trail in Peru, Piranha fishing in the Amazon, glacier trekking in Patagonia and dancing Samba (with mixed success) at Rio carnival and New Year. Family life has not slowed Millie down and she loves to explore new places with her partner and son.

“It’s hard to pinpoint a single travel experience, but travelling with children is very special. The experiences and memories you have together are priceless, and the children’s enthusiasm and relaxed nature make it easy to travel with them.

Some of Pernille’s most prominent travel experiences include her safaris in Africa, diving in Australia, a helicopter ride over Mount Cook, Koh Racha in Thailand and the sunset at the Grand Canyon.

Tom Søndergaard

Tom Søndergaard

Travel Specialist

Tom just loves Latin America. Having travelled there for the first time on a combined trip to Argentina and Brazil, he knew that Latin America is his favourite destination. He has since visited Peru, Ecuador with Galapagos, Chile, Mexico, Costa Rica and Cuba. Latin America has so much to offer: beautiful landscapes, varied scenery, incredible wildlife, fascinating cultures and a welcoming people, where dance and music play a big role.

There have been so many great experiences: the beautiful scenery of Patagonia, dancing tango in Buenos Aires, experiencing the beach life on Copacabana in Rio de Janeiro, standing by the “sun gate” at the entrance to Machu Picchu, hearing all the sounds in the Amazon rainforest, coming close to the world’s largest waterfall, driving around in an American car in Havana, experiencing Costa Rica’s impressive wildlife, seeing the beautiful Mayan ruins in Mexico, etc.

Mira Lindholm

Mira Lindholm

Travel Specialist

Mira originally trained as a tourist guide and has more than 13 years’ experience in the travel and tourism industry. She has, among other things, worked on cruise ships and sailed back and forth between most major ports in the North Sea and Skagerrak – from Newcastle in the north to Copenhagen in the south. She also worked for many years as a guide and ski instructor in Sweden, Italy and France.

When not helping other people with their travels and experiences, she enjoys getting away herself. She has enjoyed several trips to the US, Canada, Africa, Asia and most countries in Europe.

“What impels me to travel and see the world is the fact that every time I land after a holiday, I return many experiences richer. My job of sharing these experiences with other travellers is a real pleasure,” says Mira.

Ingun Hammersmark Nikolajsen

Ingun Hammersmark Nikolajsen

Travel Specialist

Ingun has worked with us since October 2012. She originally trained as a physiotherapist, but is at her happiest when talking to travel-hungry customers.

Ingun’s heart beats for Africa, and she lived in Ethiopia for two years, where she taught at a local school. During her stay, she became quite adept at bartering with the taxi drivers in the local language, Amharic! She has also travelled in Kenya, Tanzania and Zambia, and has enjoyed several somewhat unusual travel experiences. She has drunk coffee with tribal people in the Blue Nile Valley, visited the slums in Nairobi and been on a traditional hunt with a bow and arrow in Tanzania.

One of the highlights of Ingun’s safari in Tanzania was the hot air balloon ride over the Serengeti. Ingun has also stood on the top of Kilimanjaro and is happy to give tips and advice to those who dream of doing the same.

Ingun is married and has three children who are looking forward to going on safari!

Iida Väänänen

Iida Väänänen

Travel Specialist

Her love of travel and seeing new things is a force that has given her many unique experiences. She reminisces about breathtaking nights in the Thai rainforest and the Tanzanian savannah, where only canvas walls stood between her and the wild animals outside. She has also gotten up close to animals under the water, such as when she found Nemo while diving in the Phi Phi islands.

Overall, Iida has seen many exotic animals, encountered different cultures, and experienced the most gorgeous sunsets. In the future, she hopes to gain even more unique experiences with her significant other as her travel partner.

Jude lived in Aruba for 3 months whilst studying Sociology.

In Kenya, she explored the wilderness, giving her a taste of the African wildlife – an experience she dreams of sharing with her own family.

In addition to Thailand and Kenya, Sandra has also spent time in the US, and sailed around the Mediterranean for five months with her husband, living on the boat and exploring the coastal towns.

In her free time, Sandra enjoys being active with her family. In the summer, they spend time at their apartment in Spain, and in the winter they’re often to be found at the skating rink, where Sandra plays ice hockey.

Tanja Jensen

Tanja Jensen

Booking Specialist

Tanja has been in the travel industry for more than 15 years. She was away briefly to take a course in nutrition and health, but missed the industry too much and is now back with a vengeance! She loves the contact she has with the suppliers and airlines, as well as the challenges that this poses.

Tanja loves to travel herself, and had some of her best travel experiences in Brazil, Thailand and Tanzania. In Tanzania, Tanja had to push her own boundaries and say yes to grilled squirrel, taken down by the guide with a bow and arrow. Who could say no to that?

The next time Tanja is off, she will have her family, which now includes two lovely children, with her.

Anne Mette Arp-Nielsen

Anne Mette Arp-Nielsen

Booking Specialist

As a child, Anne Mette experienced Europe from the back seat of the family car, but in her teens, her passion for Latin America was born. Anne Mette has lived in Ecuador’s rainforest, Argentina’s metropolis Buenos Aires, Brazil’s southern beach paradise Florianópolis and Lima, the capital of Peru. She dances salsa and tango and speaks Spanish and Portuguese. Asia has, however, also been thoroughly explored, with lots of cookery courses, great diving experiences and temple visits.

Anne Mette loves to trek and to experience the countryside and wildlife at close quarters – and that goes for under the water, too, as she loves to dive in the warm water. The ideal combination is a lot of activity and then a little relaxation with a good book on the beach.

Anne has 2 young girls, and she is excited about showing them the world when they get a little older. She would particularly like to show them the animal life of Tanzania, which has left a big impression on her.

Her career in travel started after business school, when she first went interrailing in Europe and then worked as a ski bum one winter in Austria. These experiences inspired her to attend guide school followed by three seasons as a guide in popular tourist destinations such as Majorca, Turkey and Austria.

Her travel experiences are wide-ranging and also include countries such as Thailand, Gambia, China, Hong Kong, the US and countless city breaks in Europe, where Greece is particularly close to her heart.

Pernille Bøgehave

Pernille Bøgehave

Booking Specialist

Pernille’s desire to travel started as a child on countless trips to Spain with her parents and well-travelled grandparents. This wanderlust stuck throughout her youth when she interrailed in Europe and spent time at guide school. In 2013, Pernille worked as a tour guide, exploring destinations such as Spain, Portugal and Saint Croix in the Caribbean. During a week’s holiday on Saint Croix, she took her diving certificate and had the opportunity to dive with turtles and sharks, among other animals.

Portugal holds a special place in Pernille’s heart, and she lived and worked on the Algarve coast for 1 year. The culture, the food, the people and the sunsets all make her feel at home in Portugal. Pernille’s travel experiences also include tango lessons in Argentina, a stay in a Tree Top House in Norway, an igloo hotel and snowmobile excursions in -14 degrees at the Arctic Circle, and adventures in Mexico and the Maldives.

For Pernille, a tour should ideally offer local food culture and an insight into the locals’ everyday life, and she hopes that she and her husband will be able to share a lot of travel experiences with their children when they are older.

Cecilie Kjær Sørensen

Cecilie Kjær Sørensen

Cecilie is a qualified air freight forwarder, but previously also worked in the travel industry, flying around Europe as a flight attendant.

She has always been passionate about travelling and experiencing the world. At the age of 19, she moved to the United States for a year, where she lived with an American family in San Francisco. This gave her ample opportunity to experience many of the American states, and she has also been back since, on a road trip that took her across the southern states from the east coast to the west coast.

Other highlights of her travels have been the exciting coral reefs of the Maldives, the sunsets of Bali and the magnificent nature of Brazil.

Privately, Cecilie lives with her boyfriend, and in her free time, she enjoys doing pilates and cooking, and reading a good book when it’s time to relax.

Isabella took a diving certificate in the somewhat chilly waters of Denmark, giving her the opportunity to go diving on a trip to Florida. She loves to travel and often plans tours with a focus on seeing historic places and learning about the cultural history of other countries.

Privately, Isabella has a daughter and a fiancé, with whom she hopes to hold a destination wedding in Tuscany, surrounded by vineyards.

Winnie Sørensen

Winnie Sørensen

Product Manager

Winnie originally mastered in history, but has travelled most of her life. As a girl, she travelled through most of Europe on the back seat of her parents’ car, and as soon as she had finished sixth form, she packed her backpack and set off on adventure.

Her greatest travel experience is probably the time she stumbled over a baby giraffe in Africa. Or perhaps the sight of the sun glistening on the snow-capped Aconcagua. A wedding in Thailand also features high on the list – or a totally unplanned road trip through Texas. She loves contrasts. She loves getting behind the façades in the countries she visits!

Christina Læssøe Christiansen

Christina Læssøe Christiansen

Product Manager

Christina has worked in the travel industry for more than 15 years, and over the past 10 years, she has devoted herself to working with travel production. It is both interesting and challenging to work with people from all over the world, and she loves putting together tours that she knows will give our customers a wonderful experience.

She started travelling as a young backpacker, and has been bitten by the travel bug ever since. She now has two lovely children who, thankfully, are happy to travel with her.

She loves nature and wildlife, but what fascinates her the most on the tours is how history is brought to life when you are standing on top of an ancient Mayan ruin in Mexico, for example.

Michelle Antonie

Michelle Antonie

Product Manager

Michelle has worked at TourCompass since 2012. She has a bachelor’s degree in International Hospitality Management with a specialism in Tourism.

Michelle has travelled extensively in Europe and Asia, as well as had summer holidays in the US and the Caribbean. Michelle has always found great joy in travelling – even if it is the second, third or fourth time she visits a destination, each time there is a new adventure or experience is discovered.

One of her most cherished memories is when she was invited into a local Hmong family’s home in the Sapa mountains. Here, she got to experience watching the clouds disappear over Longji’s impressive rice terraces. Some wildlife experiences she loved include meeting wild elephants in Minneriya National Park and seeing the colourful marine life in the Caribbean and the Maldives.

Michelle looks forward to travelling with her family and showing her son all the different ways of life.

Nina Williams Strandby

Nina Williams Strandby

Product Manager

Nina sees herself as someone with a chronic need to travel. Where are you off to next? – A question she frequently asks those around her. She has travelled a lot over the past 20 years, both as a backpacker and as a family with her husband and their 3 children.

She has travelled to many places, but the Guatemalan jungle and the fascinating orange landscape of the state of Utah in the US are those that have made the biggest impression on her. The US is the country she has visited the most. After a stay there as an au-pair in 2006, she became fascinated by the country of contrasts, where the nature in particular has made a big impression on her. There have been countless trips around the US since then, with a study stay in San Diego, as well as many visits to her “external family” on the Californian Pacific coast. Nina’s travel industry experience ranges from communication and sales to product development, which is what she is most passionate about. She loves the idea of creating tours that will give others memories for life. For Nina, the best travel moments are when you can let “time stand still” with a cup of coffee, local food and preferably a bike ride in the local area.

Outside work, spending time with her family is what matters most to Nina. Although the family’s 3 children are used to travelling and love to experience it, it is the everyday spontaneous dances and their little creative projects that are most important.

Nadia Rasmussen

Nadia Rasmussen

Junior Product Manager

With a qualification in International Hospitality Management and extensive experience in tourism, Nadia has previously worked as a flight attendant and receptionist at a hostel. She has also lived abroad on several occasions, in Argentina, Ireland and Spain, among other places.

She is passionate about travelling – something that started when she was very small and drove to southern climes with her family. She has since visited more than 30 countries, and there are still many places that are high on her list. So far, she has backpacked through Asia, dived with sea turtles in Mexico and danced salsa in Cuba, to name but a few things. She loves heading off on adventure and finds experiencing other cultures and exploring new places is one of the most exciting things.

In her free time, Nadia enjoys spending time with family and friends. She also loves to dance salsa and other Latin American dances.

Mikkel Egelund Väänänen

Mikkel Egelund Väänänen

Junior Product Manager

Mikkel has extensive experience of advising customers, and over the years has become adept at understanding and meeting customers’ needs – much to the delight of our many guests. He has experienced many exciting travel destinations, and previously worked as a tour guide in Thailand for a year. So, it is natural for him to work in our product department, where he contributes to the ongoing development and improvement of our tours to Asia.

Mikkel really has the travel bug and is eager to see the world and experience new travel destinations. He is looking forward to travelling more with his two children and seeing the world through their eyes. He loves seeing his children’s excitement when they experience nature and wildlife in places such as the Serengeti plains and the Thai rainforest, where the stories in the children’s animal books unfold and come to life.

The world might be big and exotic, but Mikkel also enjoys his annual trip to Finland with his children and Finnish wife, where he spends time in the sauna and cross-country skiing.

Louise Rye Jacobsen

Louise Rye Jacobsen

Product Coordinator

Louise is a qualified office assistant and market economist.

She has a great love of Canada after countless holidays and stays in the province of Alberta. Her weakness for the big country is a combination of the breathtaking nature, the diverse population and not least the close ties she now has with her Canadian family.

Some of the travel experiences that have really stuck in her mind are a cabin trip in the Canadian Rocky Mountains in -35°C, and a quiet sunrise from her one-person tent in the mountains on a beautiful summer morning.

Louise has also experienced the majority of the European countries on self-drive holidays as a child, when the whole family had many fun moments learning as many phrases as possible in all the countries they passed through.

Christian Conradsen

Christian Conradsen

COO (Chief Operations Officer)

Christian holds a master’s degree in International Business and has, among other places, lived in Hong Kong and in England.

Over the years, he has travelled in Asia, Africa, the Caribbean and Europe. Some of his biggest memories were when his wife said “yes” in the middle of the white beaches of Turks and Caicos, or when he could tick off The Big 5 on his first trip to Tanzania. The Great Wall of China is also high on the list – or the stunning sunset over the Hong Kong skyline from Victoria Peak Viewpoint.

Christian spends his free time with his family, particularly with his two girls. He also finds great peace in listening to podcasts and working out in his own gym in the basement.

Dino Karalic

Dino Karalic

CMO (Chief Marketing Officer)

Dino has worked with marketing and commercial business development for more than 10 years, most of it in the travel industry. He attaches great importance to relevant, effective and unique marketing – and that our guests enjoy the experience of their lifetime, every time – as marketing doesn’t get better than that.

Dino has visited many of our destinations, and enjoyed a lot of amazing and unique experiences as a result. Getting a good night’s sleep is important to him and, according to Dino, the world’s best night’s sleep comes from sleeping in a tent camp in the Masai Mara National Park in Kenya.

He spends much of his spare time with his family, especially his three children. However, he also finds time for his friends every once in a while – and, according to Dino, a trip to the gym or a jog by the sea are great ways to relax.

She has spent time working in the UK, Australia, and Denmark, further enhancing her passion for travel. Kamilla is a media studies graduate and has a great passion for all media aspects – especially social media.

Kamilla did not travel all that much when she was little, but her spirit of adventure was really awakened when she went on Interrail through Europe after finishing high school. This really whetted her curiosity about the world, which has grown ever since, and some of her best travel memories include road trips in both Iceland and Morocco and island hopping through the Philippines. The next destinations on her travel bucket list are definitely Japan and Vietnam.

Unfortunately, she cannot travel around the world all the time, so instead she spends her free time experiencing what we have to offer in terms of cultural attractions in Denmark.

A trained business economist, he also has a bachelor’s degree in e-commerce. During his first course, he spent a year in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria, where he spent more time frequenting the exciting sights and eateries of the city than studying.

Mathias loves exploring new cultures, and especially enjoying new culinary experiences. The strangest things he has tasted are chicken hearts and veal tongue – the latter was a nice enough, but “not something he wants to try again”!

When not at work, Mathias spends his time with family, friends and his little dog Mille, which he took over when his good friend suddenly developed an allergy.

Beyond her dedication to her profession, Anne-Sofie has always had a passion for exploring the world. She has visited destinations across the globe. With her love for hiking and experiencing nature, it’s perhaps no surprise that New Zealand is her favourite destination so far. She has also travelled to Australia, Fiji, Canada, the USA, and much of Europe. Anne-Sofie dreams of her next trip, perhaps to Costa Rica or Japan, where she can explore and experience new, exciting cultures.

Patrick Clausen

Patrick Clausen

Senior Software Engineer

Patrick holds a bachelor’s degree in software engineering, and he has had lifelong love for both programming and travel. Since childhood, he has been tinkering with computers, building small games and programs. This passion continues into his adult life, where he writes software not only as a career but also as a hobby.

Patrick has travelled to several European cities, including Berlin, Prague, Zurich, and Paris. When he travels, it’s to immerse himself in local cultures, particularly their cuisines. In the future, he hopes to visit more countries outside Europe, with China and Vietnam high on his list.

At home, Patrick lives with his girlfriend. Together, they often spend time in the kitchen or swimming, and when he’s alone, he dedicates much of his time to gaming—preferably playing games that were released over 20 years ago.

Mads Skytte Nielsen

Mads Skytte Nielsen

Senior Software Engineer

Mads has a bachelor’s degree in software engineering, and before he joined TourCompass, he worked with everything from website development to defence technology. Mads loves to travel. When he’s out exploring the world, one of his favourite things to do is to get close to the local community and truly gain an insight into their culture.

Mads has, among other places, been on a month-long adventure in Japan, where there was plenty of time for immersion and self-reflection while experiencing a culture that is so different from his own. Japan’s dedication to detail has always fascinated him, particularly the fact that they choose a craft and dedicate themselves 100% to mastering an art, from the sushi chef perfecting his cuisine to the ‘office worker’ who devotes himself to a company.

When exciting foreign cultures aren’t calling, the great outdoors is, and Mads loves everything from going camping and hiking to mountain climbing. One of his more long-term dreams is to climb Mont Blanc.

One of his most memorable travel experiences was on Sicily, where he and his girlfriend participated in a sunset tour on Mount Etna, strolling across the craters at 2,400 meters above sea level. Pernille Bøgehave

She loves heading off on adventure and finds experiencing other cultures and exploring new places is one of the most exciting things.

In her free time, Nadia enjoys spending time with family and friends. She also loves to dance salsa and other Latin American dances.

Trine is an SEO specialist who helps develop content for our websites and makes sure that they and the search engines speak the same language.

The first “real” trip Trine was on was two weeks’ interrailing through Europe when she was a sixth former. Since then, she has done the classic round-the-world trip, countless city breaks and charter holidays, not to mention six months in China in connection with studying Chinese at Aarhus University.

And China holds a special place in Trine’s heart. Her stay in the country provided some of her greatest experiences as well as cultural, personal and linguistic challenges. Today, her love of the language remains intact.

Louisa Poad

Louisa Poad

Online Marketing Specialist

Louisa developed her thirst for travel at a young age and spent most of her summer holidays travelling around the UK and Europe in her parent’s campervan. She now looks forward to living out her own ‘Van Life’ adventure and hiking her way around the Scottish Highlands.

Upon leaving school, she packed her rucksack and made her way to Australia where she lived and travelled for a year. She has fond memories of snorkeling in the Great Barrier Reef, camping on Fraser Island and surfing in Byron Bay.

She has spent time working in the UK, Australia, and Denmark, further enhancing her passion for travel. For Louisa, travel means more than simply visiting new places, it means immersing yourself in new cultures, attempting to learn new languages and seeing the world through new eyes. Inspiring others to plan their next adventure or relaxing getaway is all the motivation she needs!

Online Marketing Specialist

PPC Specialist

Mathias is our PPC specialist, who loves crunching numbers and spreadsheets.

Mads Bundgaard Kristensen

CTO (Chief Technology Officer)

Trained in IT, Mads has broad experience within a multitude of IT disciplines: inventory management, apps, AI, websites, backend systems, GDPR and security. If it has anything to do with IT, Mads knows something about it. His previous experience includes 13 years in retail, one year in both finance and fast food, as well as 3 years of working with defence technology.

From day 1 at TourCompass, Mads has been known as “the IT guy”.

His expertise also rubs off on his home life, which is just as full of technology as his work life is. He loves smart home devices, and everything in his home is connected. More than 65 devices – from the oven to the radiators and even the lawnmower – are connected to the home network, which currently has no fewer than 9 Wi-Fi points (1,200 mbit up/down – but who’s counting?!).

Mads is married to his childhood sweetheart from primary school, with whom he reunited in adulthood. They were married in 2020 and had their daughter Mie in 2023. Together they live on a 30,000 m2 plot surrounded by nature for the “It man”.

Software Test Engineer

Anne-Sofie holds a bachelor’s degree in software technology from Aarhus University in Denmark. Her previous experience in quality assurance for the defence industry has provided her with an in-depth understanding of ensuring that software performs as expected. Additionally, she has gained unique insights into cross-border collaboration.

Her best travel experience was definitely a tour to Vietnam where, accompanied by a guide, she and her family drove in the mountains in 4-wheel drive cars. He then pursued an HD part 2 in accounting and financial management. This combination of education and experience has made him a versatile controller with broad experience in financial management.

His wanderlust has taken him to the islands of southern Europe, where he enjoys going off the beaten track – sometimes unintentionally. For example, a walk on Fuerteventura, which was supposed to be 8 km as the crow flies, turned into a nearly 20 km hike.

One of his most memorable travel experiences was on Sicily, where he and his girlfriend participated in a sunset tour on Mount Etna, strolling across the craters at 2,400 meters above sea level. It was a magical and memorable experience to see the view over the volcanic landscape as the sun set behind the volcano.
