This resort is a modern resting place in beautiful tropical surroundings!

The resort has 130 modern rooms in light colours with beautiful wooden furniture. All rooms offer air conditioning, cable TV, a safe, coffee/tea facilities, a fridge, Wi-Fi and an en suite bathroom.
The “Garden” rooms afford a view of the lush garden and are located on the ground floor with access to a private terrace with a table and chairs. The “Premium” rooms have sea and jungle views and a private balcony with a table and chairs, from which the breathtaking sunset can be enjoyed.

In restaurant “La Galeria”, your breakfast (included) is served as a buffet – naturally with a great cup of Costa Rican coffee. The restaurant is also open for lunch and dinner and serves a wide selection of local and international dishes.
With the cooling sea breeze and a fantastic view, you can enjoy lunch or dinner in the restaurant “La Fragata”, where all manner of delicious seafood is served. The resort also has its own sushi restaurant and the “Don Juan” bar.
If you’re just feeling peckish, light meals and snacks are served at the El Galeón pool bar, which also serves cold drinks throughout the day without you having to leave the pool.
Please note: Opening hours in the restaurants vary throughout the season.

The resort has several swimming pools where you can sunbathe and relax after an adventure-filled tour of Costa Rica. There are both pools for families with children and pools for guests aged over 18 only. From the resort’s infinity pool, with a drink in hand, you can enjoy the sun slowly setting into the Pacific Ocean, painting the sky in a multitude of colours.

The tranquil Biesanz Beach is a short 7-minute walk from the resort’s main entrance. Here, you can swim or rent kayaks and snorkelling equipment and go exploring under the sea. Perhaps you’ll spot a sea turtle.

If you need a little break from lazing by the pool or the beach, you can use the resort’s gym, play tennis and crazy golf or go exploring on the resort’s small jungle trail in search of exotic wildlife.

You can also look forward to a spot of pampering at the resort’s fabulous and exclusive day spa, where you can purchase various treatments and massages.

The resort is also just 4 km from Playa Espadilla beach, where, in addition to swimming, you can try all kinds of water sports, including surfing, and around 5 km from Manuel Antonio National Park. There is a free shuttle service to and from the town, which you have to book in reception.

Parador has its own sustainability programme, having actively joined the fight to protect the climate and drawn up a concrete action plan to reduce its carbon emissions through investment, e.g. for more energy-friendly lighting, improvement of air conditioning systems and more efficient pump systems. Through its “We Share” programme, the resort also supports several different social and environmental projects in the local community.

Nammbú Beachfront Bungalows

Playa Carrillo

Playa Carrillo:

Playa Carrillo is the type of beach you see on postcards and nowadays on Instagram. The idyllic horseshoe-shaped bay is surrounded by palm trees that sway in the breeze, while the sun’s rays glitter in the turquoise sea.

There are no hotels or restaurants right on the beach. The few hotels that are here enjoy a somewhat secluded location, and you can either walk to the beach or take a taxi. The local Costa Ricans also come here and use the beach as a favourite picnic spot on Sundays, bringing their own food and beach chairs with them.

The wide sandy beach is very child-friendly as the water is relatively calm and shallow.

The town of Carrillo has a chilled atmosphere and just a small selection of shops and restaurants. We recommend a trip to Playa Sámara, a mere 10-15 minute drive from Carrillo, where you can shop in the small shops along the town’s main street and have dinner right on the beach.

Playa Carrillo is for those who wish to round off their Costa Rica tour in peaceful, bounty beach surroundings, where relaxing is the keyword.

Hotel description:

The family-owned hotel Nammbú Beachfront Bungalows is located on a small hill, just a few hundred metres from the beautiful beach Playa Carrillo. From here, you have a stunning view over Carrillo Bay, with its white, undisturbed sandy beach with turquoise waters and lush green surroundings as a backdrop.

The hotel consists of thatched bungalows in earthy colours, housing 63 spacious rooms. All rooms have comfortable beds, a sofa, a desk, a minibar and fridge, a safe, air conditioning, a flat screen TV, a telephone, a coffee maker and an en suite bathroom with hair dryer. There is also a balcony or terrace for each room, where you can sit and relax while enjoying the scenic surroundings.

In the hotel restaurant, you can enjoy your breakfast (included) either inside or out on the covered terrace with a magnificent view. The restaurant also serves both local Costa Rican dishes and dishes inspired by Western cuisine. If you fancy an exotic cocktail, simply order one at the hotel’s small bar, located next to the pool.

If pure relaxation is the order of the day, you can float in the pool or just rest in the sun loungers while enjoying the beach view. You can also sit in the lounge with a good book or take a towel under your arm and sit under a swaying palm tree on the beautiful beach.

If you feel the need to be active, you can rent a bicycle or book surfing lessons and outdoor yoga classes at the hotel.

Free Wi-Fi is also available in the hotel’s communal areas.

Hotel Bosque del Mar

Playa Hermosa

Playa Hermosa:

Hermosa means beautiful in Spanish, and this beach is certainly that! If you’re looking to round off your Costa Rican adventure with a beach holiday where you can really wind down and pretty much have the beach to yourself, Playa Hermosa is the place for you.

Roughly 6 km from Playa Hermosa is Playas del Coco, a slightly larger beach town, with a wider selection of shops and restaurants if you need a little trip out.

If you feel like swapping your flip flops for walking shoes one day, there are numerous options for day trips from the town. Playa Hermosa is located in the north-western corner of the Nicoya Peninsula, and from here you can, among other places, visit the exciting Rincón de la Vieja, Palo Verde and Diria national parks.

(Please note that there is also a Playa Hermosa in the southern part of the Nicoya Peninsula in Puntarenas province, but this is not where you’ll be staying).

Hotel description:

Hotel Bosque del Mar is a charming, little boutique hotel surrounded by tropical forest and enjoying a unique location right on Playa Hermosa beach. If you look in towards the hotel from the water, it’s actually so well camouflaged that it can be difficult to spot.

The hotel has just 32 rooms, either overlooking the tropical garden or the seductive sea. The rooms are spacious and attractively appointed, all with air conditioning, a fridge, cable TV, a coffee machine, a safe, Wi-Fi, a hair dryer and toiletries.

The modern Niromi restaurant serves international and Costa Rican dishes and offers a wonderful view of the sea. The stylish Nya lounge bar on the restaurant’s first floor serves exotic drinks and snacks.

There is a small swimming pool and a jacuzzi in the middle of the hotel where you can lie in the shade of the beautiful trees that really give this hotel its character. Sun loungers and beach towels can be used free of charge on the beach. The shallow, relatively calm water invites you in for a refreshing swim.

You might like to rent a kayak and paddle out to explore the small bay. You can also go for a walk along the water’s edge to the other end of the beach. There are only a few other hotels and resorts along the 2 km or so-long beach, so you can really enjoy the peace and the soothing lapping of the water.

The hotel also has its own day spa, where you can purchase various massages and beauty treatments. In reception, they’ll also help arrange various water sports activities, boat trips, deep sea fishing and trips to the nearby national parks.

Look forward to enjoying a cool drink at happy hour while the sun slowly sets on the horizon, painting the sky in beautiful shades of orange and purple.

The Hideaway Hotel

Playa Sámara

Hidden away behind tall palm trees and tropical plants is the little gem, The Hideaway Hotel.

The Hideaway enjoys a fantastic location between two of the area’s scenic bays. Just 100 metres from the hotel is the beautiful sandy beach, Playa Sámara. A small path leads from the hotel down to a more isolated part of the beach, where it’s not uncommon to hear the sounds of both tropical birds and howler monkeys, which can often be spotted in the treetops.

Playa Sámara offers a wealth of water activities, bicycle rental, cafés and restaurants. If you’d like to visit a more peaceful beach, the beautiful, picture-postcard Carillo Beach can be found in the next bay – a mere 1 km away. Carillo Beach is considered a quieter beach with fewer visitors and just few hotels and restaurants.

The Hideaway Hotel offers 12 spacious rooms with either a terrace or balcony. All rooms have an en suite shower with hot water, a hair dryer, a safe, a coffee machine and Wi-Fi. The décor is light and airy with decorative details on cushions and throws, giving the room a cosy, relaxed atmosphere.

Your stay includes breakfast with coffee brewed from local Costa Rican coffee beans. Get the day off to a good start with a stroll to the hotel’s small tropical garden, which is frequented by birds and butterflies. There is plenty of opportunity to laze by the swimming pool with a good book or a chilled tropical drink. Light dishes can also be purchased in the hotel’s restaurant.

Borinquen Resort

Rincon de la Vieja

Borinquen Resort has a delightful location in the foothills of the mountains and close to the national park. It has a naturally formed pool surrounded by the tropical forest.

Facilities include a ‘formal’ restaurant that is mainly used for dinner, as well as a more casual restaurant/cafeteria where guests usually eat lunch. Guest stay in ‘villas’, each with its own terrace from where there is an excellent view of the sunset. The villas are also equipped with a TV, telephone, air conditioning, coffee machine and safe.

Hotel Grano de Oro

San José

This charming hotel is located in the centre of San José.  Previously a Victorian palace, the building has been remodelled to create an attractive, welcoming hotel with a full range of modern facilities.

The hotel restaurant is one of the most famous in Costa Rica. The rooms are excellent and equipped with a TV, telephone, air conditioning, minibar, coffee machine, hair dryer and safe. There is WiFi access in all rooms and in all public areas at the hotel.

Wyndham Tamarindo

Tamarindo

Tamarindo:

In the late 80s, Tamarindo was just a sleepy, out-of-the-way village that only the locals and some hardcore surfers knew about. Not so anymore! Today, Tamarindo is one of the most developed and popular beach destinations on the Nicoya Peninsula, attracting all age groups, young and old, and still a great many surfers who want to try their hand at the waves.

Tamarindo is located in Las Baulas National Park, which was created, among other things, to protect the surrounding beaches, where the large leatherback sea turtle comes to lay its eggs in the season from October – April. The national park also has a large area of mangrove forest that is home to abundant bird- and wildlife. We recommend a kayak or boat trip into the often overlooked national park.

Tamarindo is for those looking for a place where things happen, with a wide range of activities. It is also the obvious choice if you’re travelling with older children who want to try their hand at adventurous activities such as surfing, horse riding or ziplining. Along the town’s main street, you’ll find a large selection of shops, trendy bars and cafés and some of the country’s best restaurants.

The town’s central location makes it the ideal base for exploring the north-western corner of Costa Rica with the option of excursions to exciting national parks such as Rincón de la Vieja, Palo Verde and Diria.

Despite welcoming many visitors to the area, Tamarindo’s beautiful, wide sandy beach does not feel crowded.

Hotel description:

In Tamarindo, you’ll be staying at Wyndham Tamarindo. The hotel enjoys a quiet, hillside location with the most fantastic view over the town and the sea.

It has 104 stylishly appointed rooms, all with cable TV, air conditioning, a safe, a hair dryer and Wi-Fi. The rooms also have a small private balcony or terrace overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

Your breakfast (included) is served in restaurant Vista as a delicious buffet. The restaurant is open all day, and you will find a large selection of local and international dishes on the menu. There is also room service if you would like the food served in your room.

Relax in the hotel’s lovely infinity pool, where you can take a refreshing dip or sunbathe while enjoying the impressive view (you just never get tired of that view!). You can also watch the sun set on the horizon from here, with a cocktail from the pool bar in your hand.

Walk down to the beach in approx. 15-20 minutes or take the hotel’s free shuttle bus, which runs to/from Tamarindo roughly every two hours between 9 am and 7 pm.

As a guest staying at Wyndham Tamarindo, you also have access to the Langacosta Beach Club, giving you use of the club’s beach chairs, toilets and changing facilities. They also have a bar and restaurant when you get thirsty and hungry. If you’re up for a spot of surfing, they also offer surfing lessons. There is a transfer to/from the club from the hotel. It costs approx. 1 USD PP per way.

As darkness falls, the bars come to life, playing music and serving exotic drinks. The town has many good restaurants. You can also visit the cosy outdoor street food market, Jardín Tamarindo Food Truck Park, where everyone can pick the food they want and then all eat together in cosy surroundings.

Every Thursday, there is a popular night market in the town at Plaza Palmas, where you can shop, eat and listen to live music. It’s open from 6–9 pm.
