Magical Eastern Bali

On this tour, you will experience the magic of East Bali.

You will be picked up from the hotel and driven to the magnificent Besakih Temple, located at the foot of Bali’s largest volcano, Mount Agung. The volcano erupted violently in 1963, causing great devastation. Miraculously, the devastating lava flowed around Besakih, which is considered a sign from the gods. It is not known precisely when the temple is from, but the stone foundation is believed to be more than 2,000 years old.

Known as the Mother Temple, Besakih is Bali’s largest, most important and most sacred temple of Balinese Hindus. The complex consists of a total of 23 temples, built on six levels up the slopes of Mount Agung. It’s an amazing sight! Feel the sense of spirituality as you walk through the temple.

From here, you drive to the village of Tenganan, also known as Bali Aga. The village is inhabited by the Baliaga people, considered to be Bali’s native population before the arrival of the Hindu Javanese. The villagers live by their own customs and traditions, and here you gain an excellent insight into their unique culture. Tenganan is also known for its unique weaving technique, and you have the opportunity to buy beautiful, hand-woven fabrics.

After the visit to the village, you will be driven to the sacred bat cave at Goa Lawah, where thousands of bats live.

The last visit on the list is Kerta Gosa, the beautiful, old hall of justice in Klungkung, which is part of the historic palace, Puri Semarapura. The palace is also known as the floating pavilion. The ceiling of the open building is adorned with paintings, depicting the punishments that await you when you die if you don’t behave properly in your earthly life.

You will be driven back to the hotel in the afternoon.
