Izakaya Cooking school – afternoon
Izakaya cooking school is a good way to learn about Japanese dinner culture. At the same time, you learn to prepare some classic and popular Japanese dishes that can be eaten both at home and in izakaya restaurants, which are cosy and typically Japanese “pub restaurants”.
The class consists of 2 sections. You start by learning how to prepare the dashi stock, a base ingredient in Japanese cooking. Afterwards, you prepare 2 – 3 small dishes, e.g. crushed cucumber salad with plum sauce, cold shabu shabu-rei shabu with ox meat. Once they’re finished, it’s time to eat them. Then you return to the kitchen to prepare another 1 to 2 dishes, such as, e.g. green tea sorbet. Of course, these dishes are to be eaten as well.
For vegetarians, meat and fish will be replaced with vegetables.
On this excursion, you will have to make your own way to the collection point. Information on how to get there can be found in the welcome pack given to you on your arrival in Japan.
This excursion is open to TourCompass’ own guests only.
We recommend that you book the excursion when booking the tour.
