Entim Camp

Sitting there in the comfy chair with a nice cup of coffee in your hand, you briefly wonder why on earth you need to go on a game-drive today. It’s all right there in front of you! You have unobstructed views of the plains of the Masai Mara over on the other side of the river, and a waiter pops over at regular intervals to ask if you need anything.

You’ve pretty much just woken up after a great night’s sleep, interrupted a couple of times by what might have been hyena howls, but that’s sleeping in a tent for you.

The comfort, on the other hand, is top notch! The tent might be canvas, but there’s plenty of space for tables, chairs and the soft bed, and they are all beautifully upholstered in natural colours, so as not to “disturb” you. It goes without saying that they all have their own “bathroom” at the back of the tent, with hot running water in the shower. All 12 tents have their own veranda overlooking the plains.

You’re sitting in the mess tent. The large wooden platform outside the dining area is raised above lawn, and the views are phenomenal. The food and coffee are excellent, and it is this combination that makes you question whether you need to move at all.

But of course you do. You’re in the Masai Mara! You’re in the north-western Mara, and you’ve probably chosen to upgrade to Entim because it’s migration time. The location of the camp is incomparable for this, and during the period from July to October, you don’t have to drive far to enjoy a perfect view of the magical sight. And luckily, there’ll be coffee in the pot again tomorrow.
