Ilkeliani is a tent safari at its best!

The 8 tents are all erected on platforms, giving you a unique view from your veranda, and providing effective air ventilation around and under the tent.

“Tents” is probably the wrong word to use to describe them. “Suites” would be better. The walls might be made of canvas, allowing you to both hear and smell the nature around you, but everything else is like something from a 5-star hotel room.

The beautiful wooden floors are in perfect harmony with nature outside, and the colours of the furniture and rugs are muted to ensure that the tent does not unnecessarily draw any attention away from the surroundings outside.

The tents are located a good distance away from each other to guarantee you your very own personal experience without being able to hear your neighbours.

It goes without saying that there’s a bathroom – and from the shower, there’s a view of the bush outside.

The mess tent offers good food and is a great place to share your experiences of the day’s safari. Here, too, the walls are canvas, and the luxurious ambience is assured with beautiful furniture and elaborate lamps.

In the evening, the camp fire is lit and you can enjoy the view of the starry sky before a local Masai accompanies you to your tent for the night. The camp is not fenced in, so when you walk around in the evening, you are always accompanied by a Masai – again, classic safari style!
