In the north-western section of Masai Mara, you’ll find the classic, cosy Mara River Camp. The safari camp affords a direct view of the Mara River, which is inhabited by hippos and crocodiles – and where, every year during the great migration, the latter lie in wait, open-mouthed, for the prey to arrive.
One of the oldest camps in Masai Mara, Mara River Camp has all the charm you would expect of an authentic safari camp.
When you stay at Mara River Camp, the focus is on nature, and the tents are comfortable but somewhat spartanly furnished.
Its 22 tents are all made of canvas, so you can both hear and smell the nature right outside, and yet they all have their own shower/toilet, electricity around the clock and their own balcony overlooking the Mara River.
Meals are taken in the cosy restaurant, and in the evening before dinner, you can enjoy a drink on the terrace overlooking the river. The camp has a nice pool area where you can cool off after the safari, and Wi-Fi is available in the communal areas.
