At a private game reserve just outside the westernmost end of Kenya’s biggest National Park, Tsavo, sits the cosy Ziwani Tented Camp.
As a fairly unique selling point, the camp offers night game drives. This is only possible because the camp is located just outside the national park. Fortunately, the animals don’t know this, so you have great opportunity to see some of the nocturnal animals that are not usually spotted on a safari.
The camp is located near the Sante River, and the grassy lawn in front of the camp offers an incredible view of Mt. Kilimanjaro. The river has formed a dam in front of the lodge, which attracts countless birds, while hippopotamuses and crocodiles frolic in the water (at night, they move to the lawn in front of the lodge).
The 25 tents are set up as a chain with the restaurant as the natural midway point. This means that all the tents offer an incredible view of the dam and the hippos, as well as the mountain in neighbouring Tanzania.
Each tent features a charming interior with a solid floor, plenty of space for your suitcase, a small desk, and your own bathroom. Outside the tent, you have access to a porch with chairs, which you can use to enjoy this beautiful view. The walls are made from canvas and the windows feature mosquito netting, so you can enjoy all comforts while hearing nature just outside.
Please note that the tents are suitable for up to three occupants, maximum.
