Half-day excursion in Little India, Kuala Lumpur

Join us on an exciting cultural excursion to Little India, also known as Brickfields.

You will find your own way to the starting point of the excursion, which is in the lobby of Hotel ParkRoyal Collection, where your guide will be waiting for you. From here, you will go to Bukit Bintang Monorail Station, where you will take the train to the Little India district.

From here, a wonderful stroll begins through the colourful streets, which are lined with Indian clothing shops and grocery stores. You will proceed along the River of Life, a development project that leads to a lively waterfront.

You will then visit the Sri Kandaswamy Temple, which was built in the early 20th century and is dedicated to Lord Murugan. The temple is known for its impressive architecture, combining the traditional South Indian style with colourful and detailed decorations. The temple is a peaceful and spiritual place that gives you a deep insight into the traditions and practices of Hinduism, and if you wish, you can participate in prayer.

Not far from here is the Sree Veera Hanuman Temple, which is dedicated to the strong and devoted monkey god, Hanuman, who is a central figure in Hindu mythology. Statues of Hanuman are placed around the temple, and many of them are adorned with colours and details that reflect his power and wisdom.

After this visit, the odours of Indian food and spices beckon, and you will therefore make a stop at a popular food stall, where you will taste a cup of Masala tea and a curry puff, which is a snack consisting of crispy dough filled with curry-spiced mashed potatoes, chicken, and onions.

You will continue to ‘Garland Lane’, which is a street where garlands made from fresh flowers are sold. The flowers symbolise purity, devotion, and respect, and the flower garlands are used as gifts to the gods in temples or to decorate statues and altars. In some cases, they are also used at weddings and festivals.

You will also visit a local spices shop, and maybe you will bring delicious, fragrant spices home with you for your own kitchen?

The excursion is rounded off with an authentic Indian lunch consisting of soup and a claypot with rice before it ends at Bangsar MRT Station.

Duration: approx. 3 hours
