Sam Kow Tong Temple, Batu Caves, and Jalan Masjid India

On this tour, you will experience Kuala Lumpur’s religious and cultural diversity.

The tour begins in the lobby of the Hotel ParkRoyal Collection, where your guide will meet you. Together, you’ll board the city’s monorail over bustling streets to the Sam Kow Tong Temple, tucked away amidst towering skyscrapers.

The Sam Kow Tong Temple, also known as the ‘Temple of the Three Teachings,’ is dedicated to the three primary philosophies within Chinese religion: Buddhism, Confucianism, and Taoism. As you step inside, you’ll immediately sense the incense-laden atmosphere that fills the space with a serene, spiritual aura. You can witness locals offering fruits and flowers while praying for blessings and guidance. The temple is adorned with colourful figures and beautifully crafted statues, reflecting Chinese cultural heritage with red and golden hues.

Afterwards, you will enjoy a light breakfast at a local coffee shop.

You will roceed to KL Central Station, where you’ll take a train out of the city to the Hindu sanctuary, Batu Caves. This site features numerous caves with temples, religious statues, and vibrant murals. The most striking sight is the enormous golden statue of Lord Murugan, guarding the vibrant, rainbow-coloured staircase of 272 steps leading to the caves, offering a breathtaking view over Kuala Lumpur.

From the Batu Caves, the tour returns to Kuala Lumpur to visit the vibrant and lively street, Jalan Masjid India. The street boasts numerous shops selling everything from brightly coloured saris and hijabs to jewellery, spices, and traditional sweets, reflecting Malaysia’s rich cultural heritage and diversity. The area is named after the historic mosque, Masjid India, a significant religious and cultural hub for the city’s Indian Muslim community.

The tour concludes with a classic Malaysian lunch served on banana leaves.

You will then be escorted to the nearby Bang Negara Station, where you will make your own way back to your hotel.

Duration: approx. 4 hours.
