Street food and beca tour of George Town, Penang

Experience the charming streets and iconic sights of George Town and indulge yourself in the city’s culinary delights on this exciting half-day excursion.

The excursion starts with a leisurely ride in a beca, a traditional bicycle rickshaw, where you will be driven through the charming, narrow streets of George Town. Along the way, you will pass iconic sights such as the Kapitan Keling Mosque, St. George’s Church, and the Kuan Yin Teng Temple. This nostalgic experience captures the charm of a bygone era, as the beca is unfortunately slowly disappearing from the cityscape.

The day concludes at the street food market Red Garden Food Paradise, which gathers Penang’s rich culinary culture in one place. Here, you will find everything from classic Penang dishes such as char kway teow (fried noodle dish), laksa (noodle soup), and satay to Japanese sushi, Thai dishes, and Western favourites. The market is outdoors, but covered, and offers a relaxed atmosphere where you can enjoy your meal under light chains and in the company of both locals and other travellers.

Transfer from and to the hotel is included in the price.

Duration: approx. 3 hours

This excursion is also open to guests other than TourCompass’ own.
