Street food tour of Kuala Lumpur

Indulge your taste buds on a culinary tour through Kuala Lumpur’s bustling streets and colourful food markets.

You need to find your own way to the starting point of the tour, which is in the lobby of Hotel ParkRoyal Collection, where your guide is waiting to take you on an evening filled with local food experiences. You will start at the iconic food market, Lot 10 Hutong Food Court, in the Lot 10 shopping centre – the perfect place to experience Malaysia’s street food culture and get a taste of the local food scene.

Lot 10 Hutong stands out from other food markets by bringing together family-run street food stalls that serve dishes made from recipes that have been passed down through generations. Here, you will get to taste, for example, Malaysia’s signature dessert, cendol, a refreshing sweet dessert with ice cream or crushed ice, coconut milk, palm sugar syrup, and green jelly noodles – perfect for quenching your thirst in the tropical heat.

The tour then continues to Chinatown and the nearby Hindu temple, Sri Maha Mariamman. It is Malaysia’s oldest Hindu temple and will impress you with its colourful, ornate gopuram (entrance tower), adorned with detailed figures of Hindu gods.

The evening continues with flavour experiences such as spicy meatballs and the Indian-inspired flatbreads, roti canai, which are served with various dips. You will also enjoy classic snacks in a vintage shop and a tasty claypot chicken with rice. This food experienceconcludes in a cozy café in a traditional Chinese merchant’s house.

After a fantastic evening, you can enjoy a final stroll through a beautiful, lantern-lit street before the tour concludes at Bukit Bintang MRT Station. You can also choose to remain and explore more of Chinatown’s vibrant nightlife on your own.
