Excursion to the Santa Bárbara cenotes
The Yucatán Peninsula has many hidden treasures, including its natural, underground sinkholes, also known as cenotes. On this excursion, you get the chance to visit some of them, so prepare to be blown away by the beauty of nature. Experience a fairy-tale world of impressive limestone formations and azure waters beneath the surface of the earth.
This excursion includes a visit to three different cenotes, each of which is unique and gorgeous in its own way. What they all have in common is that you can bathe in their crystal-clear water as you explore this spectacular world underground.
Cenote Cascabel is a closed cenote that only has a small entrance from the outside. Here, the rock formations and water are indirectly lit, giving you the sense of having been transported to another universe.
Cenote Chacsikín has a small light hole at the top, from which sunbeams illuminate the clear, azure waters that conceal a depth of approx. 16 metres.
Cenote Xooch’ is an open cenote that gives you the sense of sitting in a small, idyllic oasis, surrounded by lush jungle and tree roots that grow down along the sides. The water here has a depth of approx. 40 metres.
You can choose to either cycle or ride in a horse-drawn carriage between the different cenotes.
When you get hungry, you can enjoy the included lunch on-site. You are back at the hotel late afternoon.
