Swim with whale sharks

Would you like to swim with the largest fish in the world – the whale shark – out in the open sea? Then this adventure is just the thing for you!

During the summer months, these majestic creatures migrate past the Caribbean Sea, just a few kilometres from the Yucatán Peninsula, and you have an opportunity to experience them up close.

This is not a zoo or an aquarium. Here you get an authentic and unforgettable experience, where you can get right next to these fascinating creatures in their natural habitat as they elegantly move with the current looking for food.

The experience with the whale sharks is regulated so that the animals do not suffer any harm. Therefore, you are only allowed to snorkel with your guide and, of course, you are not allowed to touch the animals. The whale sharks can become more than 10 metres long, and the largest recorded whale shark was almost 20 metres long! That is one big fish!

But the adventure does not stop here. After your swim with the whale sharks, you can look forward to experiencing even more of what the sea has to offer. The trip continues to a nearby coral reef, where you can explore the colourful and vibrant marine life that is hidden here.

The excursion concludes with a delicious ceviche lunch, where you can taste local delicacies while enjoying stunning views.

The trip includes: Transport, guide, snorkelling equipment, life jacket, a light breakfast and lunch

Remember to bring: Towel, swimwear, sunglasses, cap and sunscreen with a high UV factor – preferably one of the so-called reef-safe sunscreens that are free of the harmful substances that can destroy the corals.

NB: This trip is only possible in the period from 17 May to 17 September.
As the whale sharks do not live in captivity, there is no guarantee of seeing them.
