Orange sand dunes at Sossusvlei
Sossusvlei’s orange sand dunes are one of Namibia’s most well-known attractions. Here you can experience the Namibia you most often see in pictures. Despite the harsh conditions in the desert, there is plenty of wildlife, e.g. animals such as oryx antelopes and springboks that have adapted to the desert.
Sossusvlei is especially beautiful in the early dawn when you can experience the dramatic change of colours in the desert as the sun slowly rises. You can also hike to the top of the high sand dunes, from where you can enjoy the views of Sossusvlei.
Sesriem Canyon
A stone’s throw from Sossusvlei, you will find Sesriem Canyon, another of Namibia’s fascinating natural attractions. In fact, Sesriem Canyon is the only place in the area where there is water all year round.
The canyon was formed as a result of the Tsauchab River flowing through it for millions of years As the soil was unable to absorb the massive volumes of water pushed through the canyon in a very short time, the canyon acquired some very peculiar formations.
Windhoek
Windhoek is Namibia’s largest city and its capital, and here European traditions merge with African culture. The city is small, relative to many other capitals, and it is not larger than you can easily move around on foot to most places.
Take a walk around the city and experience both modern architecture and historic buildings. Here you get a sense of the legacy from the German colonial era, e.g. German beer, German restaurants and, of course, also sights such as the beautiful Lutheran church Christuskirche, which has become a landmark of the city.
Combine your tour to Namibia with South Africa
Our tour to Namibia is combinable with a tour to South Africa. South Africa is known as “a world in one country”, and you really get many different kinds of experiences here
The City of Cape Town
Cape Town is one of the world’s most beautifully located cities, and here you can experience breathtaking mountains, exciting history and a modern city with lots of cultural attractions.
- Climb Table Mountain and be rewarded with unique panoramic views of Cape Town city.
- Visit Robben Island and get an insight into the Apartheid regime in the prison where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned from 1964 to 1982.
- Sample South African cuisine at one of the city’s many unique restaurants.
Safari in Kruger National Park
On a safari in Kruger National Park, you can experience one of the world’s most famous national parks and its unique animals.
For example, look forward to meeting the Big Five, giraffes, impalas, storks, eagles, vultures and many, many more on a jeep safari in the national park. There is something very special about standing almost face to face with these majestic animals that we otherwise only see on TV.
