On the last night of the Salkantay trek, you spend the night at the Marco Wasi Hotel, located at the centre of Aguas Calientes and next to the main street, which features countless restaurants and cafés, as well as the thermal baths.
The rooms are plainly furnished, but all feature heating, cable TV, Wi-Fi and en-suite bathrooms, where you can take a well-earned hot bath after 2 days of trekking in the Andes Mountains.
Aguas Calientes is at the foot of Machu Picchu, and it takes about 30 minutes to drive there by bus the next morning. Although the departure for Machu Picchu is early, you can get a good breakfast here, served as a buffet and consisting of a selection of bread, fruit, yoghurt and muesli.
