Hike to the top of Machu Picchu Mountain
Machu Picchu Mountain is 3,082 metres high, and, from the top of the mountain, you get an impressive view down over both the Machu Picchu Inca ruins and the majestic surrounding Andes Mountains.
It is an approx. 2-kilometre walk to the top along small steep and sometimes slippery steps. The ascent takes about 2 hours and the descent about 1.5 hours. It is said to be the most challenging hike relative to Huchuy Picchu and Huayna Picchu Mountain, due to the altitude and length as well as the open terrain, which means that you are hiking in direct sunshine more often on this route. However, you will be rewarded with absolutely amazing panoramic views from the top.
There is a limit on how many people can climb Machu Picchu Mountain per day, so it is important to book well in advance and always at the same time as you book your tour.
The hike takes place without a guide.
Duration: approx. 3.5 hours
