Sea lions at the Palomino Islands
Join us on this eventful excursion to the Palomino Islands, where you have the opportunity to watch large colonies of sea lions at close range.
You will be picked up from your hotel in the morning and after a short briefing at the harbour, you will head for the islands in the Callao Bay, located off the coast of Lima. Here you will first be met by an impressive sight of merchant vessels, yachts and sailboats in the bay.
During the boat trip on the open sea, you will pass several fascinating rock islands, where you can experience the wildlife of the islands. There is often a good opportunity to spot a multitude of different bird species, and sometimes you can also be lucky enough to see the Humboldt penguins, which have been brought here from Antarctica by the powerful Humboldt current.
As the boat approaches the farthest point of the route, the Palomino Islands, you can most likely hear the sea lions before you can actually see them. Look forward to the sight of a large colony of playful sea lions swimming, jumping and diving in the waters at these rock islands.
You can borrow a wetsuit and life jacket if you fancy a cool dip at some of the islands.
After an eventful boat trip of approx. 2.5 hours, the boat returns to the harbour, and you are driven back to your hotel.
