A tasteful tour in Chinatown and Little India

After breakfast, you meet in Chinatown, where your guide will be ready to take you on a culinary journey that starts in Chinatown’s charming back streets. Here, you can admire some of the area’s most iconic buildings and charming shophouses as you walk along the narrow, covered pavements that are characteristic of the district. You stop at a nearby coffee shop, which serves one of Chinatown’s many good coffee blends and the local favourite, Kaya toast. 

From here, you continue to a traditional market with bustling stalls stocked with fresh vegetables, fish and even live frogs. The lively atmosphere gives you an interesting insight into the everyday life of the locals.  

Your next destination is Little India, where you will be met by the intense impressions from all the colours and aromas as you stroll past rows of shops selling everything under the sun. On your way, you will stop at a versatile shopkeeper who is known for making flower wreaths as well as tailoring Indian saris and suits. He is happy to share his experiences and tell you what it is like running a business in the busy district. 

The tour ends at the Tekka Market, where you can observe the locals as they skilfully fry flatbread, or roti prata as it is known, and brew a cup of the local tea, teh tarik. Of course, you will be able to enjoy the delicacies and actually get a taste of Singapore’s diverse food culture. 

After that, the rest of your day is at your leisure.
