Full-day excursion to the Panorama Route

Look forward to experiencing the northernmost section of the beautiful and dramatic Drakensberg Mountains on this full-day excursion along the Panorama Route.

There are a lot of highlights today, and the order they come in often varies depending on the weather and traffic. The guide will try to organise the day so that you avoid the worst of the crowds. Sit back and enjoy the day!

Three of the main vantage points along the canyon: God’s Window, Bourke’s Luck Potholes and the Three Rondavels. Naturally, you’ll be seeing all three of them today.

The Three Rondavels are three stunning and striking rock formations which are reminiscent of the round huts that were once found in local villages in many parts of southern Africa.

One of the day’s most spectacular visits will, without a doubt, be Bourke’s Luck Potholes, which are cylindrical holes worn into the rocks by water and sand over thousands of years. You can get right up close to this natural phenomenon along some bridges built over the distinctive holes.

Blyde River Canyon is up to 700 metres deep and 60 km long, making it one of the world’s largest canyons. On a clear day, the view is absolutely phenomenal!

There are also many waterfalls along the Panorama Route and you make a stop at one of them. This might be the Berlin Falls, where the water falls 150 metres into a lake. Or perhaps at Lisbon Falls, which is located where the Blyde River forks into two, before dropping 92 metres over an almost vertical cliff and rejoining. There are many other waterfalls, and the guide decides where you’ll stop.

Lunch is not included on the excursion, but a stop is made at a café where it is possible to buy a nice lunch.
