Half-day excursion to Moholoholo Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre

The Moholoholo Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre was established in 1991 with the primary aim of caring for endangered, orphaned and injured wildlife that has in one way or another fallen victim to human interference with nature.

The centre cares for animals that have been caught in traps, poisoned, hit by cars or that otherwise need help. The animals are cared for with a view to returning them to the wild, but where this is not possible, they are given a home at the centre, and through this, attempt to tell the outside world how important the animals are to our entire ecosystem.

Unfortunately, poaching is still commonplace in Africa’s large game reserves and national parks. The centre works closely with the local people, who often see the large animals as “problem animals” if, for example, they eat the crops or livestock of the villages. The locals learn to spot poachers and where to turn for help. They can get help to have problem animals removed and reintroduced elsewhere, and learn why it is important to look after the animals – and that poaching is not the answer!

Visit the centre and learn more about the work done there. It is possible to see some animals that are too injured to be re-released and thus support the important work.

The centre is closed on Sundays.

Please note that the tour is private and the price applies when there are 2 people.

If you book and pay for it from home, you’ll get a private excursion on the day you want it. You can also choose to wait to book the excursion until your arrival in South Africa. The excursion is also available as a group excursion in a minibus, where the price depends on how many people are on the excursion on the day in question. You cannot choose which day you want to go on the excursion if you opt to book it in South Africa rather than from home.

If you want to be absolutely certain of being able to visit Moholoholo – and would like to enjoy the freedom offered by a private tour – we recommend that you book and pay from home.
