Is this your first trip to southern Africa? Enjoy a taste of safari life before heading on to Cape Town’s big city experiences. Rinse off the travel dust under Victoria Falls.
If this is your first time in southern Africa, we highly recommend this tour. You will enjoy both safari experiences and visits to Cape Town and Victoria Falls – three of the absolute highlights of southern Africa which you can cross off your travel wish list.
The first stop on the tour is Kruger National Park, where you will go on safari. We know from experience that you should start with the safari part. There’s nothing that feels quite as African as the sight of a big male elephant!
In Cape Town, you return momentarily to a more western world, where you will find good food and wine as well as plenty of sights, shopping and museums.
The last leg of the tour – which is sure to take your breath away – is a visit to one of the world’s largest waterfalls: Victoria Falls.
It goes without saying that we take care of all the transport along the way, so you don’t have to worry about logistics. You will have days to yourself in all places, allowing you to put your mark on the tour.
Today you depart by plane from the UK to Johannesburg with connecting flight(s) along the way.
On your arrival in Johannesburg, you will be picked up from the airport and driven to the camp where you will be staying for the next four nights. The afternoon can be enjoyed at the camp, jumping in the pool and just relaxing after the flight.
You will leave the camp early in the morning and you will not be back until late in the day. What the day has in store for you is impossible to say – and that’s what makes safari so fascinating! The feeling of being there where the animals live is absolutely overwhelming. Impalas, buffaloes, giraffes and elephants emerge from the bush and disappear again. There are storks, eagles and vultures, crocodiles, hippos – and lions. There is no guarantee of seeing the Big 5, but the chances are really high. You might like to bring a pair of binoculars with you from home, so you can help keep an eye out. In the middle of the day, there is a lunch break at one of the many camp sites found in the park. There is a small café here where you can buy food and drinks and maybe a snack or two.
At the end of the day, you will return to the camp and enjoy a good dinner.
The days are yours to do with as you wish.
You may wish simply to relax by the pool or have a massage, but you can also choose to go on one of the extra excursions organised by TourCompass.
Below is a selection of supplementary tour options.
The time has come to say goodbye to the elephants and giraffes. You are picked up from your camp and driven to the airport, from which you fly to Cape Town. You will be picked up by our local guide and driven to your hotel. You will spend 4 nights in Cape Town.
The rest of the day is at your disposal.
The days in Cape Town are yours to do as you please. We recommend you head down to the famous Waterfront area, where there are lots of restaurants, shops and entertainment. A stroll through Company’s Garden is also almost a must, and if you’re interested in contemporary art, you should definitely visit Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art.
You can also take a look at the various excursions we offer as optional extras. The most popular ones sell out quickly, so if you already know you would like to go whale watching, visit Robben Island, hike up Table Mountain, etc., we recommend booking from home.
The last stop on your Africa tour is the mighty Victoria Falls, on the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe.
David Livingstone was the first European to discover the waterfalls when he came paddling down the Zambezi River in his canoe. The locals called it “the smoke that thunders” (Mosi-oa-Tunya). Livingstone named the falls after his queen.
You will be picked up from your hotel and driven to the airport, from which you will fly to Livingstone in Zambia. You will be met at the airport and driven to your hotel. You will spend three nights at Victoria Falls.
The days are yours to do as you please. You do not need a guide for the falls themselves, but the surrounding area offers a whole host of fun, exciting and challenging activities that you should definitely try. You can, for example, purchase a tour that takes you out to feed elephants at the Elephant Café. Or how about a helicopter ride over the falls to really grasp the size of them? There are plenty of opportunities. You should also remember to make time for at least two visits to the falls – you won’t be overdoing it!
You will leave the hotel in good time today for your journey home. You will be driven to the airport, where your journey starts.
You land in the UK after an exciting and eventful holiday.

For an elephant guarantee, head to Chobe National Park in Botswana. Here you will find the largest concentration of elephants on the entire African continent. At least 50,000 elephants live here – some say there are as many as 120,000. You can also see large flocks of buffalo, gnus, zebras, antelopes, lions, hippos, crocodiles and rich bird life including storks, bee-eaters and vultures. You can often see hyenas, leopards or rare wild dogs too. It is not without reason that Botswana was named the best safari country in all of Africa!
Chobe National Park offers unique and varied safari experiences with both traditional game drives and countless activities on the life-giving Chobe river.
This 4-day safari extension to Chobe offers the best of both worlds on land and on water. A unique opportunity to experience Botswana, now that you’ve come all the way to Africa!
