Does world-class safari, great food and excellent wines sound like a combination you’d like to experience? Then you should choose this tour, where these three experiences are in focus.
Does world-class safari, great food and excellent wines sound like a combination you’d like to experience? Then you should choose this tour, where these three experiences are in focus.
The tour starts with a true safari adventure. You will stay in a lovely 3* camp offering great views of the surrounding nature. From here, you will go on safari, looking for the Big Five and all the other exciting safari animals. There is also time just to relax, enjoy the view, get a massage or perhaps go on a bush walk.
From the wilderness, the tour continues to the beautiful city of Cape Town. The city is a veritable mecca if good, exciting culinary experiences are your thing. The city is multi-ethnic – and you can taste that! The days here are yours to experience what you want, and naturally you can purchase extra excursions.
The tour rounds off in style in the famous Winelands outside Cape Town, where you will spend two nights in a charming 5-star hotel.
Today, you will fly from the UK to Johannesburg with connecting flight(s) along the way.
On your arrival in Johannesburg, you will be picked up from the airport and driven to the camp where you will be staying for the next four nights. The afternoon can be enjoyed at the camp, jumping in the pool and just relaxing after the flight.
You will leave the camp early in the morning and you will not be back until late in the day.
It’s impossible to say what the day has in store for you. What you will see, nobody knows. This is precisely why a game drive gives even the most seasoned safari guests butterflies in their stomach! The feeling of being there where the animals live is absolutely overwhelming.
Impalas, buffaloes, giraffes and elephants emerge from the bush and disappear again. There are storks, eagles and vultures, crocodiles, hippos – and lions. There is no guarantee of seeing the Big Five, but the chances are really high. You might like to bring a pair of binoculars with you from home, so you can help keep an eye out.
In the middle of the day, there is a lunch break at one of the many camp sites found in the park. There is a small café here where you can buy food and drinks and maybe a snack or two.
At the end of the day, you will return to the camp and enjoy a good dinner.
The days are yours to do with as you wish.
You may wish simply to relax by the pool or have a massage, but you can also choose to go on one of the extra excursions organised by TourCompass.
Below is a selection of supplementary tour options.
You head from Kruger to Cape Town. You will be driven to the airport, where you will catch a flight to South Africa’s most beautiful city. You will be met by our local partner and driven to your hotel, where you’ll be staying for the next four nights.
Beautifully flanked by mountains offering an array of scenic nature experiences within easy reach, one white sandy beach after another, great shopping, sights and activities for everyone – and not least a wide selection of restaurant and dining experiences. Cape Town is possibly one of the world’s loveliest cities.
The next few days are yours to explore the city as the urge takes you.
If you’re here for the culinary experiences, you have a treat in store for you! Classics such as bobotie, biltong, springbuck carpaccio and bunny chow are to be found all over the place, but there is also a great deal of experimentation, mixing old and new, and fusion kitchens thrive in the city.
If you would like to experience some of the most popular places such as Robben Island, a visit to a township or a trip to the top of Table Mountain, we recommend booking from home, as they sell out quickly.
From Cape Town, the tour now takes you to the lush winelands. It’s only an hour’s drive away, but it’s a whole different world you come to, with green vineyards and houses built in the characteristic Cape Dutch style. In the background you can see the mountains, which are one of reasons the valleys of the Winelands are so excellent for viticulture.
The day offers wine tastings at three wineries: Paarl, Stellenbosch and Franschhoek. In Stellenbosch, there is time for a guided walk through the historic part of the town, and there is a tour of a vineyard. In Franschhoek, a ride awaits you on the famous “Winetram”, a train that runs between the vineyards in the area – a fun and very charming experience. You will ride through the scenic Helshoogte mountain pass before checking in at your hotel in the Winelands.
Today is yours to do as you please. There are several great walks to choose from, or you can enjoy a spa treatment, a dip in one of the hotel’s pools or visit the winery right opposite, where you’ll also find several restaurants and, of course, the opportunity for (several) wine tastings.
The time has come to say goodbye to South Africa. You will be picked up from your hotel and driven to the airport in Cape Town, from which you fly to the UK, with connecting flight(s) along the way.
You land in the UK after an exciting and eventful holiday.
