Kalu’s Hideaway

Udawalawe

Kalu’s Hideaway enjoys the perfect location close to Udawalawe National Park, a mere 15-minute drive away.

The hotel is owned by former cricketer Romesh Kaluwitharana, who played for the Sri Lankan national team from 1990-2004. He has really managed to create a small, idyllic gem of a place.

Kalu’s Hideaway is situated in picturesque surroundings on a 5-hectare plot surrounded by a beautiful, well-tended garden with small paths and lotus-filled ponds. The rustic style is in perfect harmony with the surroundings.

The hotel consists of 14 simply appointed rooms of at least 20 m2. All rooms have Wi-Fi, air conditioning, a ceiling fan, a minibar, a safe, tea and coffee making facilities, desk/dressing table as well as a bathroom with toiletries and a hair dryer. Each room also has its own balcony, where you can enjoy the tranquil surroundings.

There is a lovely pool area in the garden with sun loungers and parasols, where you can hang out by the pool and enjoy the view and the sound of the birds singing.

If you could do with a spot of pampering, you can visit the hotel’s day spa, which offers a range of massages.

The hotel’s restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and serves both western and authentic Sri Lankan dishes.
