Whale and dolphin watching in Trincomalee (May to October)
You’ll be picked up from the hotel early in the morning and driven to Trincomalee Harbour. A boat will be waiting for you here to sail you out to sea to spot whales and dolphins. The best time of year to do this is the period from May to October, with July being the very best month.
On board, you’ll be given a life jacket and served a packed breakfast, which you can enjoy along the way.
Over the next few hours, you’ll sail the waves of blue on the lookout for the giants of the ocean. You’re in with a chance of seeing blue whales, baleen whales, sperm whales and various species of dolphins, which are often to be spotted swimming playfully around in the sea.
The captain and the crew know the area really well and normally know where the whales are. Keep a close eye out for the big splashes, and you might be lucky enough to witness a real whale jump. Don’t forget to bring your camera and binoculars.
We recommend that you take seasickness pills before the trip, if you don’t have your sea legs.
Duration: approx. 4 hours
We recommend that you book the excursion when booking the tour.
