In Chiang Mai, Thailand, we support a remarkable rehabilitation project centred around the women’s prison Klang Vieng. This initiative offers women, who are often incarcerated for drug-related offences, an opportunity to rebuild their lives and find a new direction beyond the prison walls.
The women participate in an extensive work programme that prepares them for a life after release. A key part of this programme is their education and training at the restaurant Naree De Klang Viang in Chiang Mai, which serves as both a workplace and a social enterprise. Here, the women receive training in cooking, customer service, and business management – skills that not only pave the way for financial independence but also boost their confidence and belief in a brighter future.
The project offers more than just vocational skills. The women also receive psychological support and practical guidance, helping them to process their past experiences and navigate towards a new life free from crime. Restaurant Naree De Klang Viang provides them with a platform to showcase their talents and build a valuable role in the community, easing their integration.
By joining our excursion “Bicycle Tour of Historic Chiang Mai”, you will contribute to creating positive change and provide the women with a genuine chance to break free from poverty and crime.
