Santhiya – a sustainable upgrade in Thailand

On the Thai islands of Koh Chang, Koh Phangan and Koh Yao Yai, we have chosen to partner with the Santhiya hotel group as an option for an upgrade.

The architecture is inspired by traditional Thai building styles and is constructed using sustainable wood. Organic vegetables and herbs are grown in their own gardens, reducing the need for imported goods and ensuring that you have fresh, locally-produced food. To reduce the consumption of resources, Santhiya employs energy-saving solutions such as solar energy, LED lighting, and water-saving installations. Additionally, they plant trees on their own land and promote waste sorting and recycling to support a circular economy and reduce their CO₂ footprint.

Santhiya also actively contributes to local communities by creating jobs and promoting economic growth. By focusing on using local materials, the resorts help ensure that money stays within the community, creating local employment. They organise educational programmes and workshops to increase environmental awareness among employees and the community.
