When you want to sleep, the conductor comes along and changes your seat to a bed and pulls a curtain around you for privacy. All beds are made up with sheets, pillowcases and a sealed blanket in clean, freshly washed cotton. There is luggage storage in your couchette.

If you become hungry on board, you can order food from the waiter/waitress who passes through the train. Another option is to bring your own food, or to eat at one of the restaurants near the train station before departure, which is often cheaper.

The train stops at several stations along the way to Chiang Mai.

The beach in front of the hotel can unfortunately be affected by the tide, but this has been taken into account by Rest Detail Hotel by making its own beach section with a beautiful view of the sea. If you are more of a pool person, there are two lovely pool areas with sun loungers where you can relax under a swaying palm tree. There is also a pool for the little ones.

As a guest at the Rest Detail Hotel, you have access to the two restaurants, Rest Gastro and Rest Scene. Hintok River Camp

Hintok River Camp enjoys one of the most scenic and idyllic locations in Thailand, overlooking the historic River Kwai.

La Flora Khao Lak

The cosy La Flora Khao Lak Hotel is situated right by the Andaman Sea on the golden Bang Niang Beach. So, you’re never many steps away from the ultimate holiday feeling of just throwing yourself into the waves.

The Sands

Situated right on Nang Thong’s golden sandy beach is The Sands. Behind the hotel is the main street Phet Kasem, where you’ll find a good selection of shops as well as cosy cafes and restaurants. Khao Lak’s famous Bang Niang night market is just over 2.5 km away.

The hotel is divided into 3 wings; Lagoon Wing (furthest from the beach), Seaside Wing (closest to the beach) and Aqua Wing (water park). The three wings house a total of 316 modern and spacious rooms, which are equipped with everything you need – air conditioning, Wi-Fi, a fridge, a safe, tea and coffee making facilities, a TV, and a lovely bathroom with a shower and hair dryer , bathrobes and slippers. The room’s balcony is furnished with a table and chairs, so you can enjoy the evening breeze with a game of cards.

The Sands has a 200-metre-long private beach, which invites you to swim in the turquoise sea, play at the water’s edge and walk in the soft sand. If you’re more of a pool type of person, the hotel has no fewer than 9 of them. One of the 9 pools includes a huge water park with water slides in several sizes, among other things. What’s more, the hotel also has a kids’ club with a playground, trampolines, ball pit, and a superhero and princess corner. So there’s something for every age group.

Our Jungle Camp

At the charming Our Jungle Camp eco resort, you get right up close to the stunning scenery that surrounds Khao Sok.

The lodge is close to the Sok River itself and is surrounded by rainforest. The entire resort is built of natural materials and designed to blend into the surrounding nature. Sustainability is in evidence in many places. As a guest, for example, you are urged to bring your own water bottle with you, which you can fill with purified water to minimise the use of plastic.

The food served at the resort’s restaurant is organic and home grown where possible.

The resort is suitable for children and adults alike, offering a host of different activities and several different accommodation options.

The 20 rooms are all simple and cosily furnished. Some of the rooms are on ground level, while others are built on stilts between the treetops. All rooms have their own bathroom and a private balcony or terrace. You’ll have to manage without a TV in the room – but the most amazing nature right outside the door more than makes up for it. However, if you need to touch base with the outside world, you can use the resort’s Wi-Fi free of charge. For environmental reasons, there is no air conditioning here, but all rooms are equipped with a ceiling fan for the hot nights. You fall asleep well protected by the mosquito net while listening to the cacophony of the surrounding jungle.

Praiwan Raft House

Picture a lake with emerald green water, white limestone rocks rising vertically from the water here and there, and small jungle covered islands. Add to it birds chirping and monkeys curiously watching you from the treetops.

That’s the scene at Praiwan Raft House.

The name Raft House describes this accommodation very well. Praiwan consists of small bungalows, all of which are located on rafts in the scenic Cheow Lan Lake. The bungalows, which float by means of large pontoons, are connected via a long, floating footbridge, which also leads to the cosy restaurant.

There are 30 bungalows in total, around half of which have an en suite bathroom and toilet. You’ll be sleeping in one of those. All bungalows have mosquito nets and a private veranda overlooking the lake.

There is no Wi-Fi here, and there is only electricity for a few hours every night when you can charge your camera, etc., and no phone signal to speak of.

But who cares about that when you have the sounds of the jungle, delicious homemade food, windows that can be opened to let the air flow through your bungalow and, not least, a night sky filled with stars that are not disturbed by artificial light.

Children are very welcome at Praiwan Raft House, but you should be aware that there is no designated children’s area, and the walkways do not have handrails. Parents are responsible for the supervision of their children throughout the stay.
