Situated on the edge of a lush, rocky landscape is the beautiful Santhiya Koh Phangan Resort. It’s as if the resort is carved into the rock, and it blends beautifully into the surrounding nature. It is located on the north-east side of Koh Phangan in a bay with several lovely beaches.
Thanks to its elevated location, it also affords exceptional views. And views of the bay, green mountains and lush vegetation are precisely what greet you around every corner. But the delights don’t stop there. Santhiya is a true piece of Thai culture that has made its way into the resort’s architecture. Intricately carved wooden surfaces, façades and furniture provide a beautiful backdrop for the experience of actually being here.
Don’t let the hills on the resort’s 18 hectares put you off. Simply hop in a service car that will transport you around at all hours of the day if you don’t want to walk.
Even in the resort’s 99 rooms, there is no doubt that you’re in Thailand. Carved teak is repeated in the furniture and wall covering and continues out onto the cosy veranda. All rooms offer Wi-Fi, air conditioning, a minibar, a safe, tea and coffee making facilities, a TV and free bottled mineral water. The bathrooms have a shower and bath tub, a hair dryer, bathrobes, slippers, and toiletries.
The days at the resort offer both relaxation at one of the two pools, self-pampering in the Ayuvana Spa, gym or perhaps a trip to the beach. In one pool, there is a fun detail where you can lie in small, fixed long-tail boats and just enjoy the view. You can also look forward to the meals, where fresh Thai and international dishes are on the menu, and which are prepared with ingredients from the resort’s own vegetable garden, and the freshly caught fish is delivered by locals.
