Full-day tour to the Phi Phi Islands by speedboat
Join us on this full-day tour to the postcard-perfect Phi Phi Islands.
Early in the morning, you’ll be picked up from your hotel and taken to the pier on eastern Phuket, allowing you to arrive at Maya Bay and Pileh Lagoon before the majority of day-trippers. Our partner provides a private speedboat, and that’s what you’ll be riding in. Upon arrival at the pier, you’ll be served a light breakfast of croissants or sandwiches, along with tea and coffee.
Once the speedboat sets off, hold onto your hats because it’s quite a ride as the boat speeds along. After around 45-60 minutes, you’ll reach Phi Phi Leh, the smaller of the two Phi Phi Islands, mostly known for Maya Bay, where the film ‘The Beach’ was shot. You will go ashore via a floating platform that might wobble slightly, so hold on tight. A wooden walkway leads you to the bay. Maya Bay looks like a postcard with its powdery white sand, turquoise waters, and dramatic limestone cliffs. Although swimming is not allowed here, you can paddle and stroll along the shoreline, soaking up the spectacular views – perfect for a few photos.
Next, the boat heads to Pileh Lagoon, one of the most breathtaking spots in Thailand. The lagoon is surrounded by towering limestone cliffs rising from the crystal-clear, turquoise waters. Traditional longtail boats gently sway in the lagoon, setting the perfect scene. Take a refreshing dip directly from the boat and enjoy the surroundings.
You’ll be taken further to Wang Long Bay, a hidden gem less frequented than popular spots like Maya Bay and Pileh Lagoon, making it a peaceful and authentic stop on the tour.
The speedboat then takes you to Monkey Beach (Ao Ling) on the western side of Phi Phi Don, the largest of the Phi Phi Islands. The beach is named for the wild monkeys that inhabit the white sand beach. The monkeys are cheeky and may steal your belongings, so it’s recommended to leave them on the boat or hide them well.
Mid-morning, enjoy a delicious snack of freshly baked banana muffins, accompanied by a cooling, traditional Southern Thai tea, cha chak, made from black tea, condensed milk, and sugar, lending it a creamy and sweet taste.
Next, you’ll head to a picturesque location off Phi Phi Don, where you have the chance to snorkel in the clear waters among colourful fish and corals.
Back on the boat, you will cruise to Ao Nui to admire the distinctive Camel Rock formation and take a swim.
The next stop is the Sea Gypsy Village, where you’ll learn about the rich traditions and history of the sea nomads.
The tour concludes with a visit to a floating restaurant, where a delicious local lunch is served. Afterwards, participate in a cooking class, learning to make the popular Thai coconut pancakes, ka nom krok.
After a wonderful day packed with nature, culture, and culinary experiences, the boat will take you back to the pier at Phuket, and from there, you’ll be driven back to your hotel, arriving in the mid-afternoon.
Please note that this tour is not available during the rainy season from 1st August to 30th September each year, as Maya Bay is closed to visitors to protect and restore the local ecosystems and natural resources.
