Tung Yee Peng Mangrove Forest, Lanta Old Town & Koh Lanta National Park
You’ll be picked up from the hotel after breakfast and driven to the mangrove forest at Tung Yee Peng, located on the east coast of Koh Lanta. Here, you’ll walk through the mangrove forest, following a network of paths, and along the way you may be lucky enough to see reptiles, birds and macaques frolicking in the treetops.
The tour continues to Lanta Old Town. It’s as if time stands still here. The old town is also known as the Sea Gypsy Village, as the inhabitants live on the sea in wooden houses built more than a hundred years ago. The sea gypsies are the indigenous people of Koh Lanta. They rarely mingle with the regular population, and they have their own language, traditions and beliefs. Not a lot goes on here in Lanta Old Town, but it’s cosy and authentic and part of the town’s charm. Lunch today is enjoyed at one of the local restaurants.
Finally, you’ll visit Koh Lanta National Park, where the beauty of the island really comes to the fore. You’ll have time to relax here on one of the beautiful beaches. You might also be up for a little hike up to a viewpoint where the national park’s white lighthouse stands.
You’ll then be driven back to the hotel.
