Cooking class at restaurant RÊU – morning

The cuisine in Hoi An differs from the food culture in both North and South Vietnam and therefore offers a number of local specialties. The city is, for example, known for ‘Tam Huu’, a spring roll rolled in onion leaves and not in rice paper, which is traditionally most frequently used. In Hoi An, you can also enjoy the crispy rice pancake ‘Banh Xeo’, which is named after the sizzling sound made when rice dough hits the hot pan. During the day, you will have the opportunity to prepare some of these from scratch. 

You will meet your guide at a small café and start the day just like the locals by enjoying a glass of traditional Vietnamese iced coffee, also called ‘’Café Sữa Đá’’. You will then visit a lively local market to gain insight into Vietnamese market culture through a sensuous experience where you both smell and taste the many fresh Vietnamese herbs and spices.   

You then take a short tuk tuk ride to the river, from where you will be sailed the last stretch to the exclusive restaurant RÊU. Here you will be given a tour of the restaurant’s own kitchen garden, where some of the day’s raw materials come from. On your tour of the scenic surroundings, you will see the local farmers carrying water and tending to gardens in the same way that their ancestors have done for centuries.  

Now the restaurant’s dedicated chef is waiting to share the secrets of the dishes with you, and when your tasty masterpieces are ready, they are enjoyed together with other local delicacies.

Please note: On this trip, you will make your own way to the pick-up point and back to your hotel. Information on how to get there will be provided by your local guide.
