Cyclo tour through the streets of Hué and local cuisine
Hop on one of the traditional ‘cyclo’ rickshaws and discover the sights of Hué while the city’s street food booths prepare tasty specialities for you.
In the afternoon, you will be picked up from your hotel by an experienced cyclo rider who will show you Hué’s bustling streets when the city is at its liveliest. On your way, you will cross the Huong River via the Truong Tien Bridge and continue into the old town, where you stop off at Dong Ba Market. This is where locals shop for their evening meal while you walk past stalls groaning with produce grown only on this side of the world.
You leave the market to continue the cyclo ride along the beautiful riverbank, adorned with anchored dragon boats and colourful plastic chairs outside the many eateries. You stop to sample the first of the evening’s servings, which you choose from a selection of sweet dishes in small portions with all kinds of dips.
Back on the cyclo, you are conveyed along small winding streets within the walls of the citadel, where the next eatery awaits. Here, you are able to watch as the chef prepares your banh khoai, Hué’s take on a pancake. Feel free to top it yourself with fresh herbs for a wonderful gastronomic experience.
To round off the evening, you will be driven to yet another street food stall to taste the famous local beef noodle soup bún bò Hué. Finally, enjoy the dessert chè, a sweet soup filled with delicious toppings and served over crushed ice or coconut milk.
Afterwards, you will be driven back to your hotel by your cyclo driver, giving your stomach a chance to digest and wind down.
