Full-day excursion to Ba Vi National Park and a bike ride in Duong Lam

An exciting day awaits you here off the beaten tourist track with outstandingly beautiful scenery at Ba Vi National Park and a bike ride in one of Vietnam’s oldest villages, Duong Lam.

You will be picked up in the morning from the hotel by the guide before embarking on a 2-hour drive through picturesque countryside with mountains, valleys and terraces where an array of crops are grown.  As you near the Ba Vi National Park, you will be met by a beautiful view of the Ba Vi mountain in the background covered in tropical forest and with 3 peaks varying from 1,131 metres to 1,296 metres. Once at the mountain, you can enjoy the fresh mountain air on a walk through the forest up to the Thuong Temple. On the way, you have to climb 1,300 steps in total, both up and down, but it’s all worth it as you are rewarded with a fantastic view of the stunning landscape and the rushing Da River (Black River).

After a lovely walk, you continue by car to one of Vietnam’s oldest villages, Duong Lam. Two of Vietnam’s kings were born here: Phung Hung (761-802) and Ngo Quyen (896-944). After their death, the local people built temples to honour their memory, and some of the village’s oldest buildings are 400 years old. At the home of a local host in the village, you enjoy a nice lunch and he/she tells you about the area’s history and traditions. You then climb on your bike and get ready for a gentle 1½-hour bike ride through the small streets and alleys of the quaint village. There’s ample opportunity to stop along the way to explore the centuries-old houses and pagodas that you pass. You will also encounter some of Vietnam’s most impressive collections of Buddhist statues here. After an adventure-packed day, you head back to Hanoi.
