Spice Island Hotel & Resort

Jambiani Beach

Whether you come to Zanzibar after a safari tour or a trek to the top of Kilimanjaro, you’ll be needing relaxation, a cosy atmosphere, self-pampering, good food, massage and a dip in the sea. You’ll find all of this at Spice Island Hotel & Resort, which is located in the south-eastern part of the island.

Decorated in classic Zanzibar style, the family-run hotel has its own private beach and is all but located in a large botanical garden with more than 3,000 exotic plants, trees and flowers.

The resort oozes holiday atmosphere and relaxation. The communal areas are incredibly cosy and the entire resort has a special vibe, which makes you feel completely relaxed and very welcome immediately.

The restaurant and lounge area are furnished with soft sofas, chairs and daybeds. With its cosy atmosphere and the beautiful view of the beach and the sea, it’s hard to tear yourself away from here, and we’re sure this will become your favourite area at the resort. Borrow a book from the library or take a nap in the breeze from the garden.

If you manage to leave the lounge, you can go for a stroll out on the long jetty and enjoy even more views and ocean breezes – and have a nice cup of coffee in the cosy lounge bar at the end of the jetty. At low tide, you can jump into the water from the steps on the jetty – and afterwards enjoy a cold drink and a snack at the bar.

If you feel the need to do something, you can head to the pool or add some excitement to your holiday by renting a bike and cycling to the small town of Jambiana near the hotel or perhaps to Paje, slightly further north. A few kilometres from the hotels, there is a dripstone cave, which is worth a visit.

Visit the small spa, which can loosen those stiff muscles after your Kili trek or safari.

The hotel’s restaurant serves delicious local dishes with fish and shellfish, as well as a variety of dishes from African, Indian and Arab cuisine. The food is fresh and well made. Breakfast consists of a buffet, as well as eggs and pancakes served directly from the kitchen, just as you want them.

The hotel has 34 rooms divided between bungalows of different sizes. There are two rooms in each bungalow – each room has its own entrance and a pleasant terrace. The rooms feature traditional furniture, an en suite bathroom, air conditioning, a safe and a small seating area for optimal comfort.

Free Wi-Fi is also available in all communal areas.
