Asia is an unrivalled continent when it comes to celebrating your love on honeymoon.

Depending on your budget, there are different destinations to choose from. But one thing is for sure: You’re guaranteed some fantastic days in each other’s company, no matter what.

Find three suggestions for romantic Asian destinations for your honeymoon – for those on a low, medium or high budget.

Bali – The budget-friendly honeymoon

Paddy field, Ubud

You might have to stick to a low budget for your honeymoon, but that doesn’t rule out the possibility of a wonderful honeymoon in Asia. Bali promises some fabulous memories – even on a tight budget.

Bali is for those whose dream honeymoon incorporates culture, nature and beach life.

It is for good reason that Bali is known as the island of a thousand temples. The Hindu culture is very much in evidence on the island and can be experienced at some of the unique temples. Visit, for example, Tirta Empul, a holy spring water temple. Explore the romantic temple hand in hand and experience the culture right up close.

Bali is also the epitome of beautiful nature. The area of the highlands around Ubud is like something out of a fairy tale. Volcanoes, green-clad mountains, rice terraces and deep gorges characterise the area’s diverse scenery. If you so wish, you can enjoy the nature at even closer quarters on a rafting or cycling tour. You can also go on an excursion to the artistic mecca, Ubud, where you can buy fantastic crafts.

In Bali, you are guaranteed some days on the beautiful beaches. Enjoy each other’s company in cosy, chilled Sanur, for example, which has a lovely beach and beautiful coral reefs. The water is calm, and you can indulge in twosomeness under a palm tree on the beach or snorkelling in the water.

NB: If you want to spend even more time on the beach, you can, for example, extend the tour to include a beach holiday to the Gili island, Gili Trawangan. Long, white sandy beaches and unique diving opportunities are just some of the island’s biggest pluses.

Thailand – The mid-range honeymoon

Honeymoon, Thailand

If your budget has a bit more room for manoeuvre, a destination such as Thailand offers honeymoons brimming with experiences for newlyweds like you.

Thailand is for those who, among other things, dream of lying on the beach in the shade of the palms, relaxing with a good book or walking hand in hand at the water’s edge.

Visit, for example, Koh Samui, which is located on the eastern side of the Gulf of Thailand – a paradise island made for a romantic honeymoon with beach adventures.

On Koh Samui, you can recline under the palm trees, explore the Namuang waterfall, visit the large gold Buddha or others of Koh Samui’s fascinating sights.

On the western side of the mainland, in the Andaman Sea, are the islands of Koh Lanta, Koh Ngai and Koh Mook.

The islands offer everything from tropical rainforest, outstanding diving sites and wonderful beaches to tranquillity and idyll. On Koh Lanta, you can visit Lanta Old Town, a cosy, old harbour town, or walk in the rainforest. When you arrive in Koh Ngai, you will find that things move at an even slower pace. Old long-tail boats, limestone mountains and the turquoise waters provide the setting for the days on the island. On Koh Mook, you can remain in low gear or shift up a little with excursions to the Emerald Cave, for example, where you have to swim through an 80-metre-long cave to get to a small, hidden beach paradise.

NB: What makes the location of the islands so perfect is that the rainy seasons come at a different time. So you can go on honeymoon to a Thai island paradise in the dry season all year round. And the island honeymoons can be combined with a trip to Bangkok, where you can shop, eat delicious food and experience the wonderful sights and attractions of Bangkok.

The Maldives – The luxurious honeymoon
